2018 Srixon Irons

I preferred the 45s over the 65s. The shape at address was just more appealing to me, so I never switched. Selfishly, I hope the new irons resemble the 45s more than the 65s, because I'm just about due for a new set of irons this fall and I am a hardcore chugger of the Srixon iron kool aid.

 

I liked the look of the 745's over the 765's too. The 45's had less offset and a shorter blade length. With the longer blade length, it made the 65's look like it had even more offset difference than what the spec sheets said in reality compared to the 45's.

 

Seems they went the more forgiving route with the 65's over the 45's, which I noticed as well in the 9(blade) series. 945's appeared that they wouldn't quite offer the forgiveness I needed, but I felt like I could have played the 965's.

 

I would consider switching if they make the new 7 series with the same offset & blade length of the 965's, just with an added cavity back for more forgiveness.

 

Agree 100%. Love my 745's and didn't like the 65's at all. A step back imo and i expressed that to Srixon last year at the PGA show.

 

I know PGA Tour play isn't everything. And, I am HARDLY a tour player, but, I tried to order the 745s at the VERY end of the release cycle. There were none left, so, I got the 765s. I was always really bothered by the fact that nearly NONE of the Srixon tour staffers switched to the 765s. I think the ONLY guy that did was Billy Hurley. I thought that was very telling. I know these guys are nuts about their equipment, but, if they were as good, you'd think guys would have switched.

 

I don't hate mine, but, I don't have near the lovefest with them that a lot of my friends had with the 45s. Just food for thought....

What those guys decide to use should have no effect on what you choose

 

IMO the 45 was a way better club, the PW and AW looked tons better, they did something wonky on the 765 AW

I love my Z 565 so I can wait awhile for the 585, I want to use my Z 565 for a bit and be in love with them before buying the 585.

I have both the 45’ and 65’s in the exact same combo setup. I don’t see a difference at all. Like someone said earlier the 65’s have a rounded toe or at least more so than the 45’s.

 

The whole “enamored” thing is probably because they aren’t that much different and since the 45’s were released, obviously, earlier the love affair was more extreme. Just my .02

The black on the club is what’s causing me to question the looks of rear of the iron. Is is vibration dampning or just black metal. The 785’s look slick though!!!

I think I will go for the 7 series this time around. Not because I think I’m a better player. Because the badge in my 7 and 9 irons has come loose in my 545’s. I hate that.

 

Unless they don’t fly well for me I’m going for the 7’s.

785's look nice though I have a horrible feeling they're going to be too rounded like the 65's.

I prefer my 565's to the look of the 585's. I honestly think the 565's are perfection and won't leave my bag for a long time (my iron game is the best it's ever been right now). So no need for me to upgrade or buy a shiny new object, I am just fine with my current set.

No 985 is set for retail release, only tour, unfortunately...for now at least.
