... Here is some anecdotal club choices from two guys aspiring to play on PGA Tour. Played with one Monday and the other the next day in Orlando. One a DI college senior and the other a satellite Florida tour player that has won 3 times. To give an example of their ball striking abilities, they both hit par 5's in two using a 4 iron from 243 and 242. They both hit the ball extremely high and could carry the ball right around 300 off the tee. Mini tour played Miura CB57's and the DI played Titliest 716 CB's that already had a spot worn in the center. I asked both of them if they ever considered playing MB's and was a little surprised that both gave the exact same response. A laugh and "Why would I do that?" They both said some version of they get plenty of feel off their forged CB's but have needed forgiveness in their mid and long irons. The mini tour player also use a Titleist 917 D3 he spins about 2700 instead of an Epic SZ that he spins around 2100. Said he gives up some yards with the D3 but it is much more accurate then the SZ that he hits longer but more off line.

I read and appreciate many of your posts, you clearly are a seasoned veteran with lots of experience. But what is the difference between these two's opinion and myself when I was playing to a +4 index and aspiring to tour (an engineering degree and starting a business got in the way)while playing MB's because I had the ball striking ability? I played them because there wasn't an appreciable difference between small CB's and MB's for me. ( I'm talking 3-4 yards on a "mishit") I currently still have the ball striking but not the short game because of lack of time to practice, and have played everything from PXG to Miura CB's, without saying, " wow that one shot that was marginally mishit would have made my round measurably better if I hadn't played MB's......Just my side of the argument. With due to respect to yourself.

... As I said, it is anecdotal so no real difference between their opinion and yours. Other than the obvious of course that as very skilled ball strikers, they still thought even a little help is better than none. Obviously there are players on tour using MB's and their are a very small amount of Am's good enough to tell little to no difference between smaller forged CB's and MB's. I have never been anti MB and played them for many years. My point is and always was, almost all should not be playing MB's if the lowest score is their goal. Only a handful of players in the world, considering the millions that play worldwide, have the skill to do so. You and several others here may certainly fall into that category.

... As always this does not take into account the joy of playing MB's for any reason. But those with less skill than the best ball strikers in the world are fooling themselves if they think MB's actually make them a better player. I hate having to repeat this so much because some MB zealots take such offense at anything the view as anti MB but again, everyone should play with whatever irons they want to play with, even those fooling themselves. But they should not come on a public forum filled with those looking for advice and direction and declare anyone can play MB's and it will make them a better player. MB's are viewed as very cool and we are talking about a sport where tournament golfers in high school and college will not use 3 wheeled push carts because they think it looks bad in the eyes of their peers even though they admit it is better than carrying. Every post has a meaning for someone.

... I was just answering a question. As I said initially in this thread, nobody has ever changed their mind on this subject because of what anyone posted.
