I'm kind of torn on the stats for my 6i and 7i. I've only recorded 9 shots with my 6i and have only hit a handful of them clean. When I do hit it clean, it goes ~190yds (my longest Arccos recorded was 195yds).

My 7i baffles me though. It's typically my 180-185yd club, and I have several shots close to that range or in it. I have quite a few shots of it less than 140yds though, which I'm not sure it has filtered out those in its calculations.

The loft/lie on soft forged Mizuno irons can easily get out of spec in just one or two seasons of play, especially if you are a digger and take divots. If you've played 70+ rounds and never had them checked, I can pretty much guarantee they won't be to spec any more (assuming they were even right to begin with). I get my JPX 900 forged checked once a year and always have at least one club off a degree or two on lie or loft or both.

Of course since you're going to be given a free set of Cobra clubs soon, none of that really matters assuming you end up liking those. If you ever go back to the Mizunos though, get them checked. It only takes a minute or two per club for anyone with the equipment to check and bend it.

I played the same mizuno set for 4 years. I had my 8 and 9 and my 5 and 4 within a 1/2 degree of each other.

When you're hitting 9 irons 200 yards, 1/2-degree sounds about right. :)

I had a 10% off coupon for DSG, and they were having a sale on golf grips. So I bought 10 golf grips and one putter grip; picking them up on Sunday and having them installed at PGASS for $3/club.

PGA SS used to have a deal that if you bought the grips from them, the install was free. I’m assuming that’s gone now?

Sadly yes. I don't think I've seen that kind of special from anyone in years (except at Lenny's). I was hoping there would be some kind of $ off $ coupons in the mail for 4th of July, but nothing so far. I had planned on turning in my clubs tomorrow.

Thanks! And they are sexy, but too much club for me! They look super small at address, even though they're really not compared to others. I don't think it would inspire enough confidence at address, but who knows. I'm excited to do the fitting out there though!

Broadmoor was sweet. Those guys hit it very straight, they hit their wedges low, and the putting touch is phenomenal. Chipping wasn’t super impressive although the Broadmoor rough is incredibly difficult. There was lots of eye candy walking around especially if 45+ is your scene (not sure if there are any single guys on here). I got to work on a number of players and caddies including one in the top 10 so that was pretty cool.

Hopefully hitting some balls today and then I’ll be down there again all day Sunday.

I had never looked up pricing for the Broadmoor before.

$280 for peak season...and only if you're staying at the hotel. Cheapest hotel room for a weekend night is $750.

So all in, you'd have to spend over $1,000 to play the course. Yeah, no. I'm good.

From a hotel perspective, it's amazing. The service is world class. All of the restaurants are great, and the Sunday brunch is the gold standard of brunches.

If you want to take a chance, there is a massive gymnastics competition there every Super Bowl weekend. You can get a room there for about $200/night. The course does offer free golf in the winter with room rate--to be fair, it's only 10 holes on the West Course.

And to be fair, you can actually get room + golf for as low as $475 (based on double occupancy).

Agree with this completely. I get mine checked the start of every season. When I got them check last year the lofts and lies were all over the place.

Until last season I had never played Inverness once and always wanted to since I have driven past it hundreds of times. I got to play there three times in the month of July last year (twice for free) and have to say I am not all that impressed. Glad I never pulled the trigger on a stay and play. It is not a bad course, it's just nothing special. If I were to join a semi-private course near my house Meridian, Pinery and Black-stone/Bear are all better courses in my opinion. But let's be honest, that is never going to happen anyway cause I'm far too frugal for that.

Broadmoor did look pretty fun on TV, just not $500 fun. Rather go play a mountain course or one up on the western side of CO for hundreds less.

Yeah, when I was leaving Heritage Eagle bend we actually looked at the membership at Inverness but couldn't see the joy in playing that course all the time. Nice course but agree nothing special.

where do you guys do this? I hit a yeti with my 6 iron trying to do a drill. The tumbler is barely dented but I'm pretty sure I bent the tar out of the iron (Even if I didn't, it's in my head now which is a big problem). I only need one club checked/bent so not sure who would be willing? I got the clubs built at D'Lance but I really don't feel like messing with that circus again even though it's probably the best option.

We go there almost every year in winter too. Great hotel and amenities. The 10 holes they let you play for free include some of Ross's good holes and overall are an interesting set. Usually there's only a few people playing as most winter guests aren't bringing their clubs and few want to pay to rent clubs in winter.

Funny story about the golf course there - one winter there must have been a doctor playing around the same time as me and somehow they confused me with him and must have put it in the computer, because every time I show up at the pro shop to check in every year or so they refer to me as Doctor .... That first time I had gotten lucky to have warm weather in winter so I was in a hurry to get out and didn't bother correcting them and now it's a running joke between my wife and I.

Thaar, congrats man! Sounds like a fun experience. Keep us updated.

So jealous of you guys that went down to watch those guys at Broadmoor. That course looked brutally tough.

Today was a lot of fun in the US Am qualifier. Even though I played bad and my ball striking sucked, I was happy with my scores of 75-75. My short game kept it together when last year, I would have shot in the 80s easily. I only had two birdies all day. Somehow I'm choosing the toughest fields for the qualifiers. When the pairings came out and I saw the names in the field, I knew it was going to be low scoring, but I didn't think they'd be this low. A lot of good college kids from all over came to this qualifier, I think because they saw what qualified last year (+1). It went from a "softer" field to one of the strongest fields, if not the toughest field in the country. -6 advanced. That is US Open qualifying scores, lol. The medalist shot 61 with two bogies in his first round to break the course record by two strokes. I warmed up next to him on the range and you could tell he was compressing the ball just a little bit better than everyone else just by the sound but I definitely didn't think 61 was out there lol.

That looked brutal. I saw multiple guys miss out on AM qualifier with two rounds in the 60's. That had to be hard to come in thinking you're in and miss it. These guys are good.
