Royal Hawaiian Golf Shop Visit

I’ll be in Honolulu later this week and plan to stop at a few shops. Is the royal Hawaiian golf shop any good? I noticed they get Scotty Cameron items(headcovers, ball markers, bags, limited edition putters, etc.). Wasn’t sure if it was worth riding over or not. Anyone been before?

That's the one in Waikiki right? If so I stopped in there to browse and everything was super overpriced. The lady that was working also shadowed me the whole time I walked around the store. I was going to pick up a few cool things I saw, even at the high price point, but that lady following me like I was going to steal made me quite uncomfortable and just left.

 

Just checked yelp to see if it was the shop I thought it was and sure enough it is. Yelp review also talks about being followed around the store... Lol. Glad it wasn't just me.

I'd say no.

 

It's definitely geared toward Japanese tourists, and the prices are really high. Not worth a trip.

Agree with the above. Stop in the shop if you're in the mall anyways, but it's mostly geared towards selling really expensive (/overpriced) stuff to Japanese tourists.

Roots and Relics downtown on Bishop St. across from post office has lots of cool used gear that you may not find elsewhere, just be prepared to pay for parking 30 minutes at a time in tiny lot, if can find a space. Personally, like Pro-Am or Roger Dunn on Kapiolani if looking for accessory stuff just as a reminder of trip. Added advantage to Roger Dunn is can park in lower deck at Ala Moana and walk a couple blocks over to avoid potential parking hassle- otherwise , they have a decent shared parking lot that store will validate parking ticket for. Hope that helps!

^^^^^THIS^^^^^, Roots and Relics is one if not the best place to find fairly priced equipment from new, lightly used to used, Pro-Am and Roger Dunn shops are great as well maybe a bit more pricey but not crazy like you'll see at Royal Hawaiian...

Great to know. I will definitely make a trip to Roots and Relics. This trip might be bad for the wallet if some nice items are available. The golf shops around me are non-existent. Closest shop is over an hour away.

Howzit Louis? Finally warming up a bit here in NC, hope you are doing well in VA. Told friend the other day that temp here was about 70+ degrees off from my usual comfort level while on Oahu?

For Cameron accessory stuff, Pro-Am has a decent selection and Dan-O is helpful guy. You will also find a bit of Asian market only stuff, and the other people in shop are very nice, just be careful not to step on owner's friendly little pups that may come to greet you.?

Everything is well, warming up here as well, but not enough yet to go out and hit the links as I was told that the course is frozen over...I agree, temps here are so crazy, one day in the single digits others in the mid 60s, then I get sick due to it...can't wait for Spring and Summer to show up!!!!

The Royal Hawaiian Golf Shop prices were laughable. $300 for Scotty covers, $200 for putter cups, $150 for a dozen prov1, Scotty ball markers and divot tools were $100 a piece for the cheapest. Pretty impressive markup and I feel bad for people that think they are good prices.

Agree with the prices but they do have some nice high end Scotty putters to mess around with!

Yeah 400% markup on headcovers is ridiculous. You are correct though, I enjoyed playing with the custom Scotty putters. Even had some 30% off sticker price.
