I am going down to streamsong for a couple days, but bookended by a stay in Tampa. Was looking to play another round, is there anything decent in the area? World Woods is too far, can't get on at copperhead, TPC sounds like it is way over priced. What are the other options? Is the course at IMG any good?

Where will you be staying and do you have access to private (are you a member at a private club in CHI)?

I ended up playing Streamsong red and black, Pine Barrens, and TPC... Streamsong was great as always. First time on Black, very interesting. I liked it a lot. Very different, like nothing I have ever played before. Not a course you could play every day, but something you have to try. Love red. Pine Barrens was AWESOME. One of the coolest underrated courses I have played. Very appealing, awesome practice area, everything was good. TPC is garbage, and wouldn't play it if it were only $50. Greens were good, but has to be one of the most overpriced courses I have ever played. I live in chicago and it wouldn't be top 15/20 in public courses here. Joke that is cost what it does.

Although I’m sure I will get to Streamsong eventually - probably in the summer because I play as a single, I’m cheap (sometimes), and I grew up in Florida and live in Arizona and don’t mind the heat - it’s really hard to pay through the nose for Streamsong when World Woods is such a great value.

Streamsong is worth it. If you don't mind the heat, their summer rates are a steal. World Woods is such a good value, I was blown away by how much I enjoyed being there.

In the summer time plan your rounds early. It’s a very enjoyable round walking if you can get out by 7. Around 11 is when the heat becomes unbearable. Eat a good lunch and wait for the rain to pass then take the cart out as replay rate. Just pay the forecaddie 50 bucks and you’ve spent less than 200 on two of the top 100 courses in the US

Also. Walk red. Ride blue.

+1 Southern Hills and world woods (I actually like rolling oaks better than pine barrens). St Pete country club is a private course if you can get on that’s nice, they’re pretty good about giving tee times out if your pro calls and puts in a good word. Southern dunes is also another really nice course out near Haines city

St. Pete Country Club is not nice. I wouldn't play out there unless it's dirt cheap and it's a late in the afternoon/evening warmup round when you first get in.

Belleair country club 15 minutes down the road. Tell your pro to call in. It’s easy to get on in the summer.

Just call the pro shop and tell them your situation. Belleair is the closest in your area. An old school Donald Ross.

Drive a little north and there’s Dunedin country club but it’s guaranteed to be long rounds.

I don't have a pro and trying to find any reviews of all the courses in the area is a pain. We're going to play Bay Hill on Thursday so looking for a couple more near where we're staying.

Tampa is a crapshoot, all the nice courses are private.

You'll love Bay Hill!

Played a tournament at Bardmoor a little over a month ago. I thought it was in terrible condition.

A month ago Bardmoor was really dry. The course was playing as fast as I've ever seen it and I've been playing there for 11 years. Not lush and green by any means but far from terrible shape.

Heading to Tampa this week for the holiday. Have played Streamsong the last 3 times I've been so looking to change things up. Have always wanted to get out to World Woods or Southern Hills. Anybody played either track at WW or SH recently? Recommendations?

Played em both and both in great shape. I believe world woods aerated about 2 weeks ago now. Should be good enough by now. Southern Hills is an amazing course.

I played Southern Hills on Wednesday. The greens are still healing from aerating. AND they were aerating the fairways...with the big holes. So the ball was bouncing around in strange ways when your tee shot hit the ground. So I would pass on it. However, maybe by this weekend it will be fine.

World Woods has completed their aeration last month. Pine Barrens will be in the best shape as it was done the first week in June. Rolling Oaks was done mid-June. I would be glad to post an up to date on Pine Barrens as I am playing it Wednesday morning.

Awesome, thanks for the info. That would be great as I'll probably roll out there Thursday or Friday.
