Good Golf Instructor Near Sacramento?

Recommended Posts

Title pretty much says it all. Anyone know of a good golf instructor in the Sacramento area that they've had a good experience with? I've had a couple of lessons in previous years that I felt like were a complete waste of money and I'm hoping I can find a good instructor I can take some lessons from. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I know very little about the Sacramento area, so I’m sure others will chime in, but based on the GD rankings Will Robins appears to be in Folsom. I believe Keith Lyford spends the winter months near Sacramento, he’s a good guy.

Dave Stockly at Haggin Oaks knows his stuff, I highly recommend him.

There are a few big names that I would stay away from, due to wanting complete rebuilds or else they just quit responding to communication. That has been my experience and another good player/friend of mine.

Don Baucom at Antelope trains or trained the Sutherlands (David and Kevin). Have friend that goes to him and it has done wonders with controlling his hook.

Don Levine at Wildhawk is very good and very direct in his communication. Not expensive. Was on tour in the day. His son Spencer was on tour - think he is on Web.com now. A buddy goes to Levine and he went from a 12 cap poof fader to about a 3 cap that can work it both ways.

Will Robins has a good rep and he was mentioned earlier. Ryan Williams at Campus Commons and other places - young up and comer, great guy, great player, very earnest and good. Ryan is part of Will Robins stable of teachers.

Eric Pollard at Ancil is good, Butch Harmon type communicator, on the higher end of rate, very good but he may lean more to a rebuild to get you solid. Has most the good young Ams in county coming to him.

Dave Carr out at Teal Bend is a very good player, very down to earth, will teach you in images and simple thoughts - does not get technical but gets results.

Those are some that come to mind.

Can you PM me those names, so I can stay away? :)

Eric Pollard is solid. Worked with him before in the past. He's a good guy, and will make sure you get better.

Work with someone else now, but only have good things to say about EP. Highly recommended.

Phillip Dawson is another young pro with a very good reputation. Played at Sac State. You can find him on line. I think he works at various golf courses, but, know he teaches at Catta Vedera in Lincoln. At least with my friend whom he helped a lot, he likes a very synched, arms in front rotational swing. I know he coaches some college players too. Has all the tech tools as well. I will be going to him as soon as I heal up from injury.
