We booked from easiest to hardest. Hilton National on Tues, Oyster Reef on Wed, Golden Bear on Thurs, and Old South on Fri.

I wouldn't say that is "easiest to hardest", but you guys will have fun.

Did you use GolfNow? Sometimes their rates are as cheap as the local rates here.

The only change I would consider is Golden Bear. I haven't played it yet this Spring but I've heard from people who have that it isn't in the best condition. If you could get on Dolphin Head or Hilton Head CC you would probably be better off. Both those courses are in Hilton Head Plantation - same plantation as Oyster Reef.

Have a great time. :)

What would you think is easiest to hardest? Hmmm and maybe need to check about golden bear then.

I was going to say Hilton Head from reading the original post. HH is a great choice for you.

But at some point you need to get up to Myrtle. It is THE place that fits your bill to a T

It gets crazy out there with all the golf and all the nightlife.

Myrtle is where you go when you never want to return home in the same state of mind as when you left.

And it will weed out the men from the boys.

And the golf kicks a** too.

I am personally going there in May. Have planned tpc Myrtle, thistle and Myrtle Beach national. They are a bit pricey. But it's only a 2 day trip.

Anyway, enjoy HH!!

For me personally, Oyster Reef is probably the hardest course out of those 4. It has a TON of bunkers and it seems that every hole is a dogleg. I hit a draw, so on holes that dogleg right I'm screwed. I usually end up in a bunker somewhere. The other 3 courses are about the same for me. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses. HHN is treelined with small greens. It isn't long though so you will have short irons into a lot of those greens. Golden Bear and Old South have always been easy courses for my style of play, but they are good layouts and a lot of fun.

If I hear anything different on the conditioning of Golden Bear I'll let you know.

I know. I know. LOL. We would have loved to have gone. I have been before to party. It was before i found out the pleasures of golf. It's just too far of a drive from Jax this go around.

Our annual golf trip is coming up in May. Looking for areas to play. i live in jax and not looking to drive more than 3-4 hours. We have played Charleston, and orlando in the past. We like to play courses within the $30-80 range and the are needs to have a vibrant nightlife as we like to go hard on and off the course. Thanks for all the feedback!

Orlando. I come from the Midwest multiple times throughout the year just for the golf. There are endless elite golf options that offer killer resident rates. There's more stuff to do outside of golf than most anywhere other than Vegas. Dining options are endless.

I would recommend going through HomeAway or AirBNB and renting a home in Reunion. Most homes give you access to golf. You can get a 5 bedroom house that sleeps 12, has its own pool and is on the course for around $225/night.

A bunch of my golf buddies and I go to Orlando just about every year for a golf trip. Love it there. Plenty of nightlife and a ton of good golf in the area.

We usually stay at the Marriott that used to be the Faldo Institute. They have their own 9-hole courses on property that is actually fun to play and usually in good condition. One of our favorite course used to be right across the street (Grande Pines) but they shut down to build more condos. Bad move on their part. People stayed there for the golf, not the condos. We may have to give a house in Reunion a try!

Ok. My review of the courses qnd HH in general: HH was by far in best shape of all. Fairways were in great shape as were the greens and fast. No houses and beautiful. Oyster reef was forgettable qnd remember very little. Golden bear was in pretty good shape with houses everywhere. Old south had a ton of quirks and if you didn't do your hw, you could have been in trouble. But course wasn't in the best if shape either for its reputation. My biggest annoyance were the drop zones. They were way to generous and forgiving. It didn't make you oay for the mistakes and almost was beneficial to hit from there.

The town is beautiful and lots of great places to eat and family friendly. Not a lot to do at night and yes there was a strip club but its the c squad compared to larger cities.
