Do people really have this much trouble with a putter face twisting? I get the science but how do you look down at that

I just don't understand why companies make such ugly products. Even if the putter guaranteed me 1 putts I wouldn't game it...

Well if that was the case i'd game a clown shoe on a broom stick.

I knew i'd get resposnes like that, and I can see why you're saying that - but seriously, would you? I'd rather look down on a nice 009 than look down at a clown shoe lol, but to each their own. And it's not a "I must own a good looking putter" it's just a confidence and preference sort of thing. Like Tiger just said in his recent video about equipment he said "first off, you've got to like what you're looking down at".

I would think they would keep refining/expanding their tour blade head, since that one was getting attention from pros and they even had some Web.com guys gaming it. But I guess since mallets are all the rage apparently they are trying to get in on the action.

The mallets looks pretty good to me, I get the neck is different but that is a necessary part of the tech with how they place the CG.

If it GUARANTEED, key word, 1 putts then I would game anything. You'd learn to do a lot more than like the look of a putter that had a 100% make rate, you'd love it.

Does anyone anywhere buy these (or use them on Tour)?

No.

Wrong.

how wrong?...who uses? The rep must be pretty bored watching NOBODY look at his stuff.....

You seem to know more then I do about the subject. Since you do how many different players have used an Axis1 putter on Tour since the Wyndham Championship? 5? How many used it that week? 3?

Also....Who finished T10 with their other prototype mallet at the Dell Technologies Championship last fall? And what was that players strokes gained putting and ranks inside of 10’ for the week? Another one for you.....Who was the former 2x US Open Champ that used it in Vegas?

Defintely better looking than last years models....Actually starting to look like a putter rather than a re-iteration of the a** backwards...

  • 1 year later...

I'd game this in a heartbeat if it meant I would make more putts. There's a reason rose is using it and looks unflappable with it, I might add. Every time he steps over the ball it looks as if it has a chance to go in. I would love to roll one, but no one around has these. Very interested in this - I can get over the look of anything if I make more putts.

I currently use an ugly putter and played the Backstryke in the past. Probably should have stuck with it.

I’d absolutely give one a go if I could find one locally.

Justin Rose, current World #1 uses one and chose Honma specifically so he could have putter freedom and play an Axis putter.

Where did he say he chose Honma so he could play an Axis putter?

Not saying he didn’t, I don’t know. But where can I read more about it?

That is supposition presented as fact.

You know, what the internet is built on.

I heard/read the Honma deal allowed him more freedom with his club choices, not necessarily to game an axis specifically but to have the freedom to do so if he pleases.

Based on early results I'd say it's a good deal.

He said in an interview that he had been messing around with them for a while but he couldn't put it in play because of contractual obligations. It doesn't sound like he specifically left TM or choose Honma because of the putter...but, as previously stated, the new contract gave him the freedom to put it in the bag.
