Does anyone anywhere buy these (or use them on Tour)?

JUSTIN ROSE.

The guys behind Axis1 are good guys, and I imagine they are beyond elated that Rose finally put their putter in play and now he's current world #1 and winning.

Just think how good they would be doing if they actually had the putter model Justin is using for sale to the public.

The prototype that Justin is using and won with has only been out for 16 days. I’ve been told it will come to retail mid april

No. While similar, Justin wanted some changes made to the putter you show in the photo from last year. The version I shot and posted in his WITB is 28 grams lighter. Shorted from heel to toe and has a different sole.

Thanks Greg, great inside information as always. Do you know the specs of it? I'm curious how light he wanted it.

I’m obviously the odd man out here, but the Axis 1 putter was the first putter I’ve ever put down and IMMEDIATELY said “this looks and feels RIGHT!” I’ve always been a below average putter and have always felt unnatural. Didn’t matter the style ... double bend, counter balanced, blade with flow neck, plumbers neck, heel shafted, broom stick, etc. Nothing felt comfortable and I always felt I had to manipulate something ... that something varied putter to putter.

Until the Axis. I literally soled it on the ground and immediately felt natural. I personally love the way it looks and have never kept a putter in the bag longer. I won’t ever get rid of it (I have the Joey).

More people the struggle should give it a try.

Justin Rose, current World #1 uses one and chose Honma specifically so he could have putter freedom and play an Axis putter.

Where did he say he chose Honma so he could play an Axis putter?

Not saying he didn't, I don't know. But where can I read more about it?

That is supposition presented as fact.

You know, what the internet is built on.

I don't know if I'd say "he made the switch to Honma 'specifically' so he could have putter freedom", but it also sounds like it was no small part of it. . .

in THIS ARTICLE,

Rose has made his excitement about the new irons clear, but it wasn't the prospect of the irons nor the woods that guided Rose to make the switch from TaylorMade, whose clubs he has used for over 20 years. It was the chance to choose any putter he liked, without the restraints on brand commitments and contracts. Rose wanted more freedom when it came to choosing his clubs, something that he knew he wouldn't get with TaylorMade.

"That was a big factor in having that flexibility," said Rose, at HONMA's official North American launch on Monday. "The putter was a huge reason why this conversation (with HONMA) started. I’ve continued, fortunately, to be surprised at every step of the way with the products Honma has been able to produce,” he added.

That first paragraph sounds like the author's speculation, but the quote seems to sum it up. . .the putter was a huge reason why the conversation started.

It's funny, for whatever reason I really agree with you. Not enough to try the initial versions they put out, but the Rose prototype I could certainly see myself giving a try. Wonder what the MSRP will be. (sorry if I missed it)

I contacted them recently regarding a potential armlock version of the Rose mallet and they've been very helpful so far. The Rose model should come out around Masters time is what I've been told.

What was their response to the armlock?

He said that it was possible and he'd contact me again as soon as the Rose model is coming out.

I actually liked the idea of these when I first saw them a few years ago. Never had one in hand, but found them intriguing...I've messed around with onset putters in the past (Ping Darby) and think this tech is interesting. Would love to see how one feels in hand.

To those hating on the looks--I wholeheartedly agree. They're ugly. That said, I can't tell you how many times I've allowed aesthetics to govern my putter purchases, only to run to the comfort of my trusty, ugly mallet after a few 35+ putting rounds. Probably says more about me than anything...point is, count me firmly in the "whatever gets the ball in the hole fastest works" camp at this point. I'd love to see if one of these fit that description, but would need to try it first.

It's a reverse single bend shaft making it a centershaft putter. Centershaft putters have been around for ages.

I encourage you to do more research into the product, as I believe you will find that your assessment is far from the actual design of the Axis putter. Though, I understand where the misconception can come from, as I initially had similar thoughts prior to doing some deep research on these putters years ago. This is not designed with the same philosophy of a center shaft putter/face balanced putter (which is what the vast majority of center shafted putters are).

There are some videos that explain how face balanced (among other conventional putter designs) are not designed to stay square in the PLAYING POSITION naturally. They must be manipulated to stay square throughout the natural stroke. Axis putters are designed to stay square throughout the entire stroke in the playing position. Very unique design that is not achieved with a center shaft design.

I'll be the one to admit that I'd like to try it. After Justin winning and after stmgolfer's review, I'd love to. His review sounds just like me. I've got at least 12 putters at the house. What's 1 more??

I got a great deal on one through a member here on this site for the Joey 1 design. My brother always gave me S&%$ for switching putters every week and once he realized this putter never came out of the bag … he was more than intrigued. So much so he picked one up (the copper insert Joey 1).

I am such a believer that I may pick up the Umbra putter, as I like the black head and site lines of that model. I don't say this lightly … the design of this putter is more of a game changer than any driver, irons, shaft, etc … and I drink A LOT of Kool-Aid with stuff.

Eh. I'm with you as far as tech goes if it works. Don't care what it looks like but .... Contacted them about custom alignment options as I do not put well with their default alignment aids aka the single line. Got a no-go on that front thus move on. When will companies learn that this single line crap doesn't work for everyone ...
