Overall, Cameron putters are the most played on the PGA Tour. I am not sure of other tours though.

With the frequency which tour players change putters, I don't know how much stock I'd put in the numbers. I'd say heel/toe weighted (or blade) putters rule by a mile. Whether it's TM, Scotty, Bettinardi, Nike -- they all use essentially the same design.

Would seem the correct answer is in how the question is posed. SC's website gives evidence they are the most played on the PGA tour. Odyssey's evidence is that they are the most played on all tours combined.

 

I think it speaks volumes that there is no "clear" choice of all pros. We, as we aspire to improve our own games, need to seek out the putter that works best for us. Sometimes we overlook what best puts the ball in the hole for the satisfaction of bagging what is the choice of the tour professionals.

Being that this thread is pertaining to the PGA Tour then Cameron putters are #1. The numbers that Titleist uses are from the Darrell survey results conducted at each tournament so I suspect Titleist's claim is accurate.

 

I am not sure about the Nationwide Tour but would definitely believe that Odyssey is #1 on the LPGA by a long shot and that Cameron putters rank near the bottom as this is not a Titleist target tour. I would agree that Odyssey is probably the most played putter on all tours combined in the world.

Titliest accomadated the PGA Tour. LW and crew do a fantastic job with them week end and week out. The demand is so great that it seems they limit what they do on other tours because of the "flipping nature" that occurs on other tours. Top pros, no matter what tour don't have a problem putting with what they like. Money gets involved with everyone else.

I would think there are different divisions:

 

Accuracy / low # of putts per round

 

Quanity / # of players using specific brands

 

Quality / how often a specific manufacture's putter are rotated in and out of bags due to satisfaction

 

Answer these questions and you'll probably come up with several diferent answers leading to: there is no #1 on tour

 

You may want to go even deeper and figure out financialy who's putters are most frequently generating $ flow of the top 20 players

You could also look at who is paying the most $ for people to put a putter in their bag v. those that pay nothing. I'd love to see what OEM's are paying for play.

I definitely agree that many people change putters based on what is in it for the player. I suppose I would do the same thing, eventhough I would swear I wouldn't from where I am sitting. Money has a way of influencing people.

I was told that scotty paid $60k to anyone who had a tour card that used a scotty putter in every event they played in for the year.

Some companies have "club count" contracts that simply say you have to have x number of xyz manufacturer's clubs in your bag at any tournament. So you can add xyz's hybird and drop their putter if you are so inclined.

 

While were on the topic, the one thing that burns me is the headcovers. I have seen more than one Ping Tisi Tec come from under a Cally or TM headcover, or even sometimes from a Ping Rapture headcover. There is NO truth in advertising! Headcovers mean nothing, sadly. Just another version of a bilboard.
