Rogue Subzero Fairway wood

Recommended Posts

I was about to pass on the Rogue in general and stick to my 816 (driver & fairway) set up until I took the Evenflow 6.0 black out of the Rogue sub zero driver and then used my 70g Aldila Rogue stiff driver shaft. Bingo, success! Next replaced the Aldila with a Fuji VC 6.2 TS and even more magic. I demoed the 15 degree sub zero with the Evenflow blue, but again wasn't feeling it. Anyone hit it with a Fuji 765 shaft?

What sole weight did everyone get in theirs? Website says it should be 5 gm weight, I got a 2 and I'm wondering if I need to get in touch with them to swap out the weight

reading thru this someone got a 10 gm weight instead of a 5. Sounds like they didn't ask for it either? Kinda wierd

Mine was also a 2g, grabbed a 7 and a 9 from Bill Bob's, playing it with the 7.

I ordered with hzrdus yellow 85x @ 42.5. Requested a 5g, got a 9g lol. Feels perfect after installing the legendary diamana b 80X. Hoping it's a wonderful combo when I can swing it

I ordered mine back in Feb and they were assembled in Mexico. My 3W came with a 14g weight, which is to be used in the driver and the 5W came with a 2g weight! lol. Callaway sent me some extras for free after I called them. I would have the swing weights measured by someone and go from there, but don't trust what Callaway installs, it's a willynilly process in Mexico

Any ideas on what the distance gap would be (or difference) in say a 3 hybrid and a 5wood?

Have a 3 hybrid, and hit my 3wood go far for most every course I play. Looking for something to fill the gap after driver.

Lot of factors in play comparing the two. Need specs.

Personal example. I have a 915fd at 18* 41.5” and a Ping i15 17* 39.75”. The 5w carries about 8-10y longer and higher flight

I was BSing with the Cally rep when he told me that they are trying to incorporate adjustability in their next line of jailbreak fwys/hybrids. He says that has really been the only major consistent complaint they have been getting from customers. I tried prying for details on any new offerings that may be coming out but no dice unfortunately.

I don't think I would pay for adjustability. I would like a real 4 wood in the sub zero. Not much I would change otherwise.

If they had adjustability you could make a 4 wood...

They make a tour only Subzero 4 wood. I would love to have one too. It would be the perfect fairway wood.

For the 4w lovers. Does 1.5 stayed loft really make difference between liking a fairway or not. Often the 3w 15* is closer to 16.5 anyways. I understand how 4w works for gapping or launch. But with appropriate fitting (shaft/tipping/length/weight), with how many options are out there it’s pretty easy to make a 15 or 18 head do much of the same.

Now I’m not saying I don’t have my preferences too, I love 3+ woods. But I wouldn’t write off a great club on 1.5 of hypothetical loft.

Just switched from M1 3W & M2 5W to Rogue 3W & 5W. Much more consistent now and from the very first swings simply more confident at address. Go figure. It seems they really are as forgiving and balanced as many are claiming. Anyway, works for my swing. With FW's, I only care about center fairway or center green.

FWIW, I read an article on hitting FW woods last year and the author said think 9 iron when hitting a FW. Do not think driver or 5 iron etc. That swing thought alone has helped me to really improve my FW shots.

Anyone finding the subzero model spins too much?

I have it with the stiff Evenflow Blue and have taken it out to the course a couple of times now. I've gotten to hit it a few times now and can say without a doubt has played much shorter than my 17' M1 and King LTD fairways.

I hit one into a stiff breeze on Saturday that almost came back and hit me in the ankles (ok ok, I'm exaggerating). I then took out my King LTD fairway out yesterday to see whether it was the way I was swinging the 3-wood right now and was killing it.

I've been shocked with how higher spinning and launching it is. What gives? Comparatively speaking, is it higher spinning than the M series? Seems like it to me...

Mine is back in the bag, regardless of shaft, just a better feeling, more forgiving head, and I like the shape better than the Epic SZ. I played a tougher course yesterday, lot of target golf, and 3H, 3W off the tee.

I actually only had 1 bad round, and it had nothing to do with the club, was just looking for an excuse to put the Pro Orange back in the bag. I really do like the HZRDUS Yellow.

Im loving the pro orange 70tx shaft in my driver, having trouble finding a 3 wood with an 80tx to match it.

Debating getting a 15* hzrduz yellow 85 gram 6.5 at 42” to tryout instead.

I am a fan of having forgiveness in clubs and use the max 400 driver and apex cf16 irons and love them.

Reading it seems like the rogue is the most forgiving fairway these days? Would the sub zero or standard be most forgiving? I thought the sub zero was the low spin model but there seems to be conflicting reports on that.

Other option would be a rogue 2 hybrid

Anyone finding success with the fairway yet?

I have the 15 SZ with Evenflow Blue 75 6.5, and it dethroned my alternating gamers -- Titleist 917 and 16' M2. I love the feel of the Titleist, very muted. The SZ feels as good as the Titleist but it has higher ball speed, launches higher, and spins less. I hit 3 wood off the tee a lot at my home course and I have hit quite a few more fairways with the SZ. Maybe it's the honeymoon, but it has been a real winner for me.

Looks like you've moved to the TS2? Do you find the TS2 to be appreciably longer than the SZ, more forgiving, less spin, etc? Asking because I'm considering either the SZ or the TS2 myself.

Only had mine for a few weeks now and it's awesome. I haven't got any LM numbers yet but from ball flight on a range/course it seems to be low spin.

Can't help you on the 'normal' shaft question, as I change the shaft with each different head I buy! FWIW, the Tour IZ is a very stable shaft with lots of feedback.
