Just received this gorgeous club and can't wait to start practicing with it. I have one week to go before I am cleared to practice from shoulder surgery. One interesting thing is that it is 1/4"+ shorter than my previous Taylormade Tour Preferred ATV wedge. Both specs say 35".

I was planning to custom order with the KBS Tour shaft I have in the rest of my irons but a ship date of June 12th put an end to that.

I was tempted to try out the KBS High Rev 2.0 that comes stock anyway, at least that is the 125g stiff version. I doubt I would have ordered had it been the 115g regular version I've seen in-store.

What can I expect from this shaft, I have never played a wedge specific shaft before? I have just placed my order.

Ok. First off, I'm not a hater of TM, or anything they make. I have a lot of their equipment. I'm also not gonna read thru 10 pages of this thread, so I just gotta ask and throw this out there. Sorry if it's been mentioned before:

Does anyone think that $169.99+ tax, so nearly $180 bucks out-the-door for a stock wedge is utter and complete INSANITY???? Bordering on being so f'd up it's not even worth considering???

WTH has happened to the price of golf equipment!!!

I don’t understand the use of the Hi Rev 2.0 115 as the stock shaft either. I custom ordered one but bought one from Rock Bottom Golf (with their 20% off and a $25 gift card I had) while I was waiting for my custom order. I didn’t realize it would have the 115 shaft installed. Nevertheless......I had really good results with it my first time out on the course.

It's not insanity. It's corporate greed & marketing costs. It's worth considering. The price of golf equipment is going up because it can.

Golf has always been an expensive game, especially if one buys new equipment and insists upon playing nice courses.

Fortunately these days there is a glut of high quality used clubs also on the market.

Why should the price of a wedges not be in line with what we pay per iron? Most irons are priced from $140 and up.

I look at golf equipment, and use this to my wife as an 'excuse' as well. they're all an investment. Especially with the wedges, how often is this club going to be used? I use my 52 and 56 more than my old 60. Havent gotten a chance to get out on a course yet since Chicago cant figure out what the weather it wants to provide. But if I only use this club 3 times a round to save me from a situation with confidence. That makes my golf round more fun, I stay happy. I won't need to replace this club. And only using it less than a handful of times a round, it'll preserve itself for years to come. Now if you don't have that will power and get a new wedge for the heck of it every year, surely you are going to dig deep in your pocket book. But if I can use this for on the low end of 3 years, $60 a year for my happiness on the golf course, worth it to me.

You just convinced me to stop on my way home from work today and pick up a hi toe.

Sold!

Anyone else measure other goods and services in terms of golf equipment?

“....I could’ve got a new driver for the price of this!”

I custom ordered a 60* hi-toe on the 3/20. My guy at the local golf shop said I should get it in 1-2 weeks if custom ordered. I had him call today and he was told it is back ordered until May 15 =( No thanks. Order cancelled.

I just went to my local Golf Galaxy and they had multiple 60* and a couple 64*. By local and then switch the shaft out yourself.

That would be the plan if my local shops carried them...unfortunately they don't have them either

Just hit the 58 degree high toe for the first time today, albeit chip shots from 1 - 3 yards from the practice green, as I am still recovering from shoulder surgery. Flop shots from very tight lies worked well. Hooding it and flighting it low worked great, too. The club really spins and checks up nicely. The only thing that bothers me a little is that it is a roughly 3/8" shorter than my previous 58 degree Taylormade ATV wedge. So, I'll just get it lengthened.

I agree with you, I could see a "great" sand wedge in the $200-$300 range. Drivers are $400-$500 and you hit them roughly 14 times a rounds. Good putters are $300 and you hit them 30+- times a round. A sand wedge could easily be hit 15+ times a round ( second shots in to short par fours, third shots in to par fives, around the greens and in bunkers). So, I think you can justify spending the money on a sand wedge that really works well for you. I'm not saying that I am happy about the prices continually going up.

I used fine grit sand paper to remove the two toned face coating.

im going to use super fine coating to polish it up and make it look less rough.

If i want a 59* am i better taking the 58 and bending for more bounce lr 60 and bending for less.

Im more of a sweeper. I usually carry 3 wedges 47pw 53* and 59*

I’d open up a 58 to 59.

Even as a sweeper that plays on firmer conditions

I did the opposite and bent the 60 to 59. I lean towards being a sweeper. Absolutely love it! I had concerns about full shots because I didn’t get along with the old ATV grind on full swings but so far the HT has performed in all situations.

Well after my first round with my 58 degree Hi-Toe this bad boy has a spot in the bag. It checked all the boxes:

Awesome out of the sand: check

Good from variety of lies: check

Looks good: check

Feels good: check

Beat out SM7 M grind: CHECK

What is it about the Hi Toe that you found better than the SM7 M grind? Thanks!

The playability, bounce, seemed to be very flexible if that makes sense. I only play a 52 and 58 so I like my 58 to be versatile which the M grind is but just seemed more demanding. The Hi-Toe seems to fit my swing better overall.
