What is the effective bounce of this ATV grind? Looking for around 8-10*.

I'm trying to find out what the true bounce is for each loft. I have a guy that was asking at the shop. It's like a trade secret or something!

atv grind so low bounce when closed higher bounce when opened. All I've seen

Ah. For delicate shots low bounce to get under it and high bounce for everything else?

yeah just depends on face position which changes the bounce

Callaway Rogue ST Max - Tensei AV White - 8*
Taylormade M3 HL - MFS5 White Tie 60S -0.75" (42.5")

Mizuno JPX 923 HMP - 4-G - Recoil 95 S - 2* upright

Callaway X-JAWS - 52/58*

Odyssey OWorks 2ball  -  34" - 1* loft - 71* lie
Slighter Proto 1 #9/Del Mar design - High Toe - Long neck - Deep Milled face - 33", 370gr, lie 71*, loft 4*

That's still relative, and also kind of obvious. Was looking more for a particular number, like 4, 8.. 10 degrees. Of course closing the face would lower the bounce, and vice versa.

So I read on TM's website the bounce is "different" for each person and how you sole it. To me that makes no sense because that's trivial. If I'm a player that has tons of forward press and I use a 12* bounce club, I'm effectively say now only playing 6* of bounce due to delofting the club at address. Another player could set up with no shaft lean and play the full 12*.

There HAS to be a static measurement just like they can list bounce on any other regular iron, when the club is sitting with a square face angle. It's important to me because I can't play off tight lies with a club that would set up square with 14* of bounce. From what I read this is not the case but too low of a bounce like L grind and I'll dig.

I agree 100%. I don't have a problem with tm's clubs, but they present information like people are stupid. Every wedge's bounce changes based on how it's soled. No grind is all things to all people.

Everyone going with the stock Hi Rev 2.0 Shaft? I have never used that shaft before. I have Nippon 105’s in my 790’s and wondering and matching them, but TM doesn’t offer that shaft in the wedge.

I went with Nippon Modus 120 stiff in mine. I play Modus 120 X but really like the 120 stiff in my wedges. Modus 115 wedge is a good choice too.

I play Nippon 105s in my Mizuno irons and ordered my Hi-Toe with the KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 but in the regular flex. The stock stiff Hi-Rev 2.0 is 125g and the regular flex is 115g. Was thinking about doing the Nippon 120 in the Hi-Toe but I think this will do. Worse comes to worst I have a few extra PING AMT 2.0 Wedge shafts I bought brand new off Ebay cheap (they're 118g and made by Nippon for PING, 3 shafts for the price of one Nippon wedge shaft!) and I'll put one in the Hi-Toe.

Could also put in the Nippon 105 X flex, which weighs 112 grams, about the same as the Modus 120 stiff (114 grams.) However, the 105 and 120 Modus shafts have different bend profiles. If you want the same profile as the 105 in a heavier Nippon, that is the Modus 125. The 105 was released as a lighter version of the 125.

I got mine with S400 Tour Issue. It came last Thursday evening and Friday-Saturday I had a member guest..... my partner and I birdied the first 3 holes then on the 6th hole (par 5) I layed up to 59 yds and holed my 64 hi-toe to a ridiculous pin cut on the back tier on the first shot I hit with it on the course. We tied for 1st in the net and won the gross by 11 shots. Needless to say that I freaken love this new club!

Thanks. I was mistaken because TM does offer the Nippon 105 in the HT Wedge. I might take the route with a Hi-Rev 115. I played the Cally PM grind for a long time and it has the KBS Tour V Wedge Shaft I think.

Anyway, I keep reading that these are better than PM grind wedges so these must be really good. I had lots of success with the PM grind. I hope to order mine soon.

Looking for comparisons to this wedge to the Vokey M-Grind.

Love my M grind, but looking for a bit more forgiveness and better bunker play - thinking the Hi-Toe could be the ticket.

The only thing I can offer is that if the HT is anything like the PM grind then your bunker game will be SO much easier. I used to laugh how easy the PM grind made sand shots.

I pulled the KBS Tour V Wedge shafts from my 2 PM Grinds. They were too heavy for my liking and lacked feel. Had to flatten the lie on the PMs too as it was around 66*. Definitely like the PMs better with a lighter shaft, but excited to replace my lob with a Hi-Toe.

My review of the high toe:

Picked up a 60 yesterday in store after testing vs vokey sm7 60L

Background:

Former college golfer about to turn pro. Currently bagging a raw vokey spin milled 60 with 4 degree bounce (same as the L grind but with a wider sole). Not legal so gotta make the switch. Around the greens I like to go up a lot and hit cut shot a lot. 100 yards and in is a strength in my game so wedge performance on longer shots is important to me.

Decision:

Ultimately went with the high toe due to the launch and spin rates. Felt like I could control it better while still being able to do what I want around the greens. Testing off mats so it was hard to tell exactly.

Course:

Got out to the course today and only did wedge testing. Spent a few hours hitting most shots I would hit on the course. Grass is dead so a lot of tight lies. On short pitches the high toe is crisp and solid. Sole works nice for this just enough bounce and not to much. My low bounce vokey is solid but likes to dig more. Out of tough lies the high toe is much better. The heel relief is great. Low shots are more driving and check nice. High lob shots and flops are where it falls short. To much bounce on the sole of the toe and the leading edge sits to high. Difficult to slide the club under unless you have a good amount of grass or a perfect lie. The low bounce L grind seems unbeatable here. Longer shots the high toe was on the money. Driving trajectory with great distance control and spin control.

Summery:

Only complaint is the sole and leading edge when you really try to open it up. Have to try a little to hard to flip one up. I think this is why you see pretty much every tour player with a prettty heavy hand grind vs the stock sole. Bounce on the sole seems about like the vokey M grind (8 degrees) maybe a little more. Really versatile club though and sick out of the sand. Gonna work with it the next few days.

I saw the Hi-Toe wedge for the first time today. It looks pretty good, works equally well at both square and open face.

Thanks for the review man! How was it on full shots from the fairway?
