Reading 9 pages of this brings back a lot of memories and also confirms how bad my memory is. I had forgotten about a lot of these guys..

While I know they're not banned, I miss Dr. Pino. He was your best friend when a BST went bad. Mac was also a mod but the fairest , no BS guy around.

Tembolo is a straight up good dude. He bought a Scotland bending machine from me and absolutely wore me out til we were able to FaceTime and me get him pointed in the right direction. However, he sent ma a half dozen Grip Master Wraps for my trouble and a Christmas card for a few years.

I was fortunate enough to play a round with Fats while I was working around ATL in '13. Funny, witty and just a blast to knock it around with. He knows a golf swing! IDK if he's banned. I just think like a lot of the older original members, he just moved on because the site changed more than he wanted.

I know that Kaden is still on here from time to time. He was injured while on duty and has never fully recovered. He's a sweet heart of a mountain of a man and one of the best guys you'll ever meet. He's still raising kids and building Wishon clubs in Indiana. He's an outstanding club maker and willing to share his knowledge. If you ever have any questions, send him a PM some time.

There are a ton of others who've come and gone. Some banned and some not. They've made my almost 11 years here a wonderful, memorable experience and I'm glad I was able to meet them one way or another.

For those of you here still, I thank you for your entertaining and instructive contributions. Please continue to endeavor to make this the best golfer website in the world. And please, continue to be yourselves.

You just jogged my memory, MrParr1Noid from Iowa. Long time member and mod.

Being relatively new here, I need to read this entire thread and get caught up. Internet forums, in general, can be very interesting (messy) places...providing a convenient path for craziness. I've also made several great friends via internet forums, too.

I'll add that I miss seeing Kadin in the Forums. He is the main reason that I became a club tinkerer and stumbled into the world of Wishon golf clubs. He also taught me that golf could (and should be) fun for my children.

Apart from the obvious trolls, I never really noticed what caused a ban... except for one and then the user reappears a couple years later.

Is a 12/24 month "sentence" typical? Just most people once they are gone that long don't miss this place enough to get back on.

I don't know. I've been MIA for a few years...maybe, but was always checking in a bit. Just not posting, but I'm getting back into playing more after a long stint with a very involved stretch with my son's sports stuff. Having fun posting again. Trying not to cause too much trouble.

This thread is fun though. Brings back some old memories from the early days.

I think it was a lot like GO before GO went all BSG off the rails! I always wondered how many of the Golfopinions folks migrated over here in those days, but all the screennames might not have been the same. I went on a few NC trips with some of the GO folks and I always got the impression it was a handful to manage.

Ha, I don't know if I should be flattered or not. But I have enjoyed seeing WRX grow over the years along with some colorful members. A like coming your way!

Yes, it was a much smaller site with tight group of "online buddies" back then but it has grown quickly to be the best golf site on the web in my opinion.

If you guys are interested in reading the old posts, you can see them. Just browse to the "last page" on each forums. Some very good oldie information there.

Yes, I was one of the GO guys. Actually played golf with Paul Radetsky once in Orlando. Yes, like most of online golf forums, it was a handful especially with BigHitter trying to take over GO with his bullying antics. I know one of original GO founders/mods is still very active here on WRX.

I can see why though - especially in Matt's case - where the incredibly low rhetorical quality of so many posts here makes you wonder why bother contributing.

Personally I'd be happy to just take the Courses and Travel section and the BST and call it a day ;)

BTW, gold? You been watching those adverts with William Devane and have your kids investing already? :)

Is GolfWRX able to be bought? Has it switched hands in the 13 years of its existence before? Just curious.

No, the ownership has stayed with the original owners ever since the very beginning. Easyyy and Gxgolfer.

I figured as much. I played with Paul, Mark and few of the guys on a couple of trips to NC. They introduced me to Tobacco Road, for which I will be eternally in their debt. BigHitter. We had a few beer assisted chuckles over that whole fiasco.

I didn’t know GxGolfer what part of the ownership group, I thought it was just Easyyy that owned it.

Anyone recall the poster who had the gambling thread and posted his weekly picks? May still be active, just can't recall the OP or find the thread.

I think it was Shankieboink. Not sure if he's still around.

Gamble Gamble had one going too. He's still an active poster. He's a buddy of mine and a hell of a golf gambler. Dude has a knack for picking winners.
