These might be my favorite set we have made in the 15+ years I have been in the custom club business. First pic is the raw heads. Muscle is entirely ground BY HAND. Incredible doesn't begin to describe the craftsmanship that goes into making these.

I guarantee those will be my favorite set of clubs in my lifetime (and haven't hit them yet)! Debated posting until they are actually in my hands, but no sense shorting Ari/Don/Patrick of some praise in the meantime because they deserve all the attention they can get for the opportunity they are providing.

This was a very hard decision for me, initially. I started out thinking "what the heck, I'll investigate wedges" but in a pretty short amount of time was immersed in the process of providing Ari with lots of info/exchanging info/back and forth about inspirations for design, reminding myself of the Don White/Jack Nicklaus connection (pretty much sealed the deal for me). Can't say enough about Ari's knowledge and insight and getting what I wanted to see in design done beyond my expectations. The past several days when the pics started coming I've been looking longingly from afar. Still will be following up with wedges, but focused on the irons right now and then (if the stars align) they may go along on a trip "home" in a about a month, which would be awesome. Part of this goes back a couple summers to lurking on the classic clubs forum, picking up some old Hogans and Macgregors and longing for new clubs like some of the old clubs I longed for way back when. Then trying to figure out if I'd invest in having them rechromed/polished/reshafted and all that might entail with $ and have let them be for now, because I like them "old". I figured at the rate I switch out iron sets, why not make the investment and give up on the never ending iron acquiring cycle (hey, my wife is buying that!) and sold a couple of shotguns!

At some point, will follow up when assembled and in hand, hopefully with a pic of these being wielded on a howling links.

I'm biased, but they are stunning. Can't say enough about the process and Ari's patience (and check your email, lol!) - your blanks end up in the hands of the master and the results speak for themselves.

Thanks guys!

This is the most stunning blade I have ever seen.

It is EXACTLY what I had hoped would come of the idea, just didn't know how "exactly" until Ari sent the "as builts". Being a control freak on occasion (sez my family, lol) and as Tom Petty said, the waiting was absolutely the hardest part. Amazing to me how some suggestions for a concept, then Ari "getting" those immediately and turning them into sketches/further ideas and some more back and forth (and reassurance from Ari, lol) ends up with a blank in Don White's hands and pure art comes out of it (at least to my eyes). My inspiration was something that was an echo/homage to classic Hogan irons and would have a little lower cog, "forgiving" muscle and Ari's suggestion of the larger blanks and some nuances, and his and Don's way of making this come out has been something else!

One of the things I wanted to incorporate were numbers looking similar in type to classic Hogans and I knew I wanted a St. Andrews cross/Scottish flag as part of the irons - ended up having to have custom stamps made and I think the stamping turned out incredible.

I guess if you have ever thought of going this route, want to work with good people and had never thought about having irons crafted by Don White (for me the Nicklaus connection is terrific, but he is a true craftsman regardless), maybe time to think about it while the opportunity is there.

Where is NCW located?

www.nationalcustomworks.com ;)

I can't seem to find their address on the website.

There is no physical address. these gents are spread around the country as far as I know. Therefore the website and you can find both Ari and Patrick here on WRX, or their respective NCW email address.

Made by Don and Jeff where they live. I don't think you'll get their home addresses. I'm sure you can get Patrick or Ari to answer a message if you need some more info on that. I'd reach out.
