Well it is moving day and Rory loves to move backwards on a Saturday

At this rate, he must be hoping for recurrence of that tooth ache from a couple years ago :taunt:

For a man of his talent as said before, Rory's short game is shocking.

Can't see him winning anytime soon.

Needs a proper caddie, someone to grab hold of him. Rory it's not the ball, its between the ears

Shame really, guy has game, and on his day can beat anyone, but those days are few and far between

Case in point:

I really don’t think Rory gives a s*** anymore

I read that interview with Harrington

It’s obvious he has distanc d himself trying to be tiger and he’s not in the same league as tiger. Tiger now realizes what he missed and is enjoying the craick

I’d bin off his entourage

I’d bin off taylormade

I’d start socializing with the Europeans

He’s lost years to injury and pissing around with clubs. Made a s*** ton of money but ain’t winning another major anytime soon

But wtf do I know

Lost years to injury? lol - how so?

Funny he missed out playing St Andrews due to an ankle injury while socialising and playing soccer with his Europeans friends.

That said a weird comment nonetheless

Well has he said on twitter he has $200m in the bank. So if he can just keep up appearances for the next 10 years he can get another $200m - great strategy if you ask me.

I was totally a Rory fanboy though. So, here’s where we stand:

1. This works for Rory (apparently)

2. Sucks for me as a recovering Rory fan

Moving day. Weather is incredible here today - no wind. Would imagine mid 60's carded today and those who don't won't be in the hunt. If Tiger is going to make his presence back on tour known today is the day to do it. Going to be a fun watch!

Rory started out with 2 good finishes in Europe on easier courses. He supposedly needed time to get his health and head under control so took some time off last year. In the states he has been horrible so far. I think he is still trying or he would have duffed a few yesterday to purposely miss the cut but his head is just not in the game. Dissapointing to see such a great talent be squandered so hopefully he pulls it together.

He's having a little hissy fit today.

Might be time to get PJ back on the bag.

Really? I think he is trying and wants to prove himself. He took time off and has been training hard. He said so himself. And is playing more events this year than he has ever played in this pro years. If this is not someone who is determined then what is? The fact is Golf is a tough game . Guess Tigers fault for making everyone think top pros can just turn up and contend every week. Look at Rickie this week another missed cut and he is supposed to be part of the full of talent young fearless young generation of golfers. So cut Rory some slack - the game is hard and only type A personalities with huge amount of talent can contending weekly. .

I think the Dufner pairing is excellent for Tiger! Tiger obviously does not have to stand on his driver to be longer than Dufner which should be more conducive to settling into a good rhythm off the tees. Tiger has relied on his putter the first two days to make up for driving accuracy and GIR performance. I think Dufner gives him a great chance to play within his swing off the tee and if he puts it in play he has a chance. If he was paired with a DJ or JT kind of hitter I would not give him the same odds for today but he isn't, so Tiger fans have every reason to be optimistic today before the first tee.

I don't know. I would never consider one of the strongest mental sports strategists to ever be intimidated by his playing partner. I am only replying to this after having the advantage of seeing the stats from yesterday.

Through 2 rounds he is 4th in driving distance, having the longest drive of the day at 361 yards, and 3rd in proximity to the hole. His putting is (just) 16 th. I would say his putting saved him moreso in the last tournament; but he still fell short.

So far this week 21 GIR; last tournament was 16 after 2 rounds

I think he knew he rushed his swing on occasion at the last tournament and is concentrating more on his tempo. He looked more relaxed, and his drives were more solid as a result. Or maybe its the new shaft :)

Agreed that his tempo looks much better, and that he looks more relaxed. From a distance it seems he is starting to believe in himself again. Let's see if he can do it again today.

Every week these lads bring what Tiger did more and more into perspective (I wouldnt be surprised if he has more wins and/or majors that the rest of the field that made the cut combined).

What's certain is that TW stands head and shoulders above everyone else, including Rory.

How about a string of 6 over in holes #4-8 today? 40 on the front 9: He is now +5...

I agree that Rory's not fully in it. In that recent interview, Harrington said to Rory that he would consider four majors a failure for Rory considering his talent, and Rory's just like... "Yeah I guess you're right." Other comments by Rory have suggested that he is not always driven to win, doesn't push himself to his full potential and he knows it. Of all the all-time greats, Rory seems to be the most reluctant champion.

Also Rory deserves no slack from golf fans. He deserves high expectations and I feel confident he himself would agree with that.

I count myself in the Rory fanboy camp but I can’t say it doesn’t bother me when he plays the way he is playing at the AT&T, Riviera and now here. 5 putting a hole from close proximity in Monterey does make me question where his head is at. Rickie Fowler is great for the game but I would not put his peek talent level at the of Rory’s. I agree with much of your post but can’t say I’m not severely dissapointed with his results so far this year.

Btw, wth just happened... did PGA Tour Live just give up on the Rory/Varner III group??

Looked at your username and thought, nope not with these 2, move on ?

Rory and Jordan are our households favourite golfers. Like I said yesterday, it winds me up as Rory is so talented, so talented. He’s good friends with Snedeker, instead of having dinner maybe Snedeker could fix his putting.

Nothing better in Golf than Rory and Jordan going at it down the straight. But there needs to be a huge change in Rory, Harrington alluded to it in that interview. Nothing wrong with being arrogant, but nothing better than asking for help/guidance in your dark times.

He’ll eventually work it out, but just needs a little push

LOL, showed Tiger tying his shoes - that's all some people want to see right now.

And David Duval still looks like an Amish carpenter - will play the father in the remake of "Witness" - Brandel will be the schtumpy sidekick to the Harrison Ford character who perishes because he can't help himself talking at the wrong time. Jodie Ewart Shadoff as the Amish daughter just for DP4! Damn, that means DP4 will want Harrison Ford's part - can he fix a birdhouse?

It comes down to a person's makeup. I remember David Duval saying what he won the British Open, he felted kinds deflated because he thought it would mean more. As opposed to Tiger, who the second after he won his first Masters, thought, I want to do that again.

As small as the talent pool is to get on the Tour, its even smaller of guys who can stay at the top. That's the hard part. It's probably hard for Rory to look back at all the things he gave up growing up, just to get to the Tour, and he probably wants to experience those things. Add on, he has enough money and fame to take care of his family and for generations. He's already in the Hall of Fame, already has four majors.

Additionally, I think there is a little pressure on him to be the next Tiger; pressure that's not exactly on Justin Thomas or Rickie. I don't think anyone looks at JT and thinks, undoubtly this guy should be number 1 (even though he can be and is a great player.) Four majors for JT would be a big career, but people kind of look of it as a failure for Rory.
