A little ways outside Boston, and no young professional rate, but Halifax CC is probably still cheaper than most of the clubs closer to Boston, with no initiation fee. They also have a member referral special that will save you 20% the first year and 15% the second year if you're referred by a member (I'd be more than happy to do so).

I would look at granite links in Quincy. They have an extremely affordable young adult membership and the yearly payments go towards the initiation off a full membership. The course is nice, the social aspect is top notch, restaurant is outstanding and you just can’t beat the view. I think I just talked myself into joining

There's an abundance of threads on this topic in the New England chapter here on WRX; it's all a matter of how much you're looking to spend, amenities, and how far you'd like to travel. If you note those 3 things, I have no doubt the community can help a little more.

Hoping to refresh this thread a bit as my fiance and I will be re-locating to Boston in the next few months. We're both 27 so the young professional route seems to make sense. We'll be living and working in the Cambridge/Waltham/Lexington area so Oakley CC seems to make a lot of sense geographically. Being new to the area, we would love a club that has a nice social aspect with welcoming members. From what I hear, Oakley recently underwent some nice renovations. The drawback for some seems to be the tight/quirky course layout. Are there any other clubs in that general area that would compete? Roughly what I have in mind is <$10k initiation, <$5k annual dues, but somewhat flexible for a great fit.

Any and all recommendations are much appreciated!

Historically there haven't been great junior deals in the immediate suburbs in and around the areas you're looking. Inside 128 there is just a lot of demand and prices have been high. For Waltham, Framingham CC might be an option or a bit further out Hopkinton - I think both have had some deals over the years. Other places I would look into would be Woodland (Newton) and Nashawtuc (concord). Not sure if they have more attractive deals, but worth checking out

If you don't mind a longer drive, though, I've heard very good things about Vesper's young exec program. They have a good group of younger golfers who live in Somerville, Cambridge area and drive the 40 minutes out there to play. Great track.

Lastly, I believe (in the past), Oakley has offered a summer membership program where you can essentially join for the year without the initiation. Not sure if they do that on a young exec dues, but it might be worth looking into that next season. And if all else fails, just join Fresh Pond!

I wanted to follow up on this thread being a few years old. I’m a recent college grad and looking for a club. I’m currently outside of Boston and drive by the Wellesley Country Club all the time. With the location, I’m going to assume that it’s pricey, but I’m looking for a place to play, network and keep a handicap, and hopefully under $800 p/mo?

You won't be able to get into WCC unless you live in Wellesley and have deep pockets/connections. Post-covid private golf costs in and around the Boston area are INSANE. The waitlists are long. Expect 5 figure initiation fees for anything private, many are $20k+. Semi-Private life isn't all too horrible, but even Granite Links has a long waitlist and a 10k plus initiation for under 35. The further away from Boston you get the more you'll find reasonably ex. Foxborough CC etc. Good luck!
