Ebay buyer! You are kidding me?

LeftyLuck

Recommended Posts

I sold some irons on the Bay, the buyer contacted me, wanted to pay with gift cards and have me ship the irons to Spain. When I refused, his counter was for me to ship them to a brother in Houston, still paying with gift cards, this time with extra gift cards which he got as a present. He was so disappointed when I refused to even consider this absurdity.

The ole poor college kid card eh. Wow dont be such a pushover. All of this over stickers. Everybody is a poor college student. The guy played you hard. Google street view his address and I bet this "kid" lives in a wealthy neighborhood.

You seriously believe this college kid bought your clubs for $550?

Post the listing.

$20 GooGone??? You lose the internet today.

The only left handed iron sets sold in that time frame in that price range I find is Mizuno MP 18 SC but with PX (I believe he's a wrxer too). https://www.ebay.com...=p2047675.l2557

Nothing expensive shows up for DG S300.

I really hope this "$20" thing keeps going now. Classic.

I just went and searched as well. Game up with nothing matching the OP's description.

Yeah i refuse to sell stuff on eBay typically.

I've had people get stuff, say they like it, try to find a problem with it and ask for partial refunds. I've had people get clubs, play them and then say they're not right and send them back and they're beat to hell. I've had days and days worth of arguments with guys on stuff.

My favorite was a guy bought a shaft with a Ping adapter from me. Good deal, can't remember the specific shaft, but it was probably a $200ish shaft and he got it for under $100. He gets it, Pms me saying "oh I thought this was a authentic Ping adapter, since its not could I get a $50 (out of a $100 sold and shipped price) since I need to have an Authentic Ping adapter installed and by the time I do all that I'll be out about $50". Told him absolutely not and just send it back and I'll keep the shaft. He kept coming back with "oh its a great shaft and feels great and performs great, but I just can't trust the aftermarket adapter, I realy want to keep it". I just refused and refused any partial refunds and told him to put in a return request, which he did, then he never sent the shaft back and eBay then released the funds back to me after 5 days or whatever. Then of course, I got negative feedback from the guy and I'm the worst seller he's ever dealt with.

I sent the buyer an email asking if he had buyer's remorse. He said he is a college student and really didn't have all the money to be spending on golf clubs. I said I would refund him 200 dollars back since I can understand his situation, but if he would have just said that in the beginning, I would have accepted a return. Just tell the truth is the moral of the story I guess.

Oh my lord! Come on man. Really??

Played you like a fiddle. Literally the Oldest eBay trick in the book my friend.

Complain bitterly about something insignificant to scare the seller into a partial refund.

Not a chance in hell his story is legit. I would have told him to ship the damn things back and pound sand.

Agreed.

A poor college student should be smart enough not to buy clubs they can’t afford in the first place. But this college student was smart enough to threaten a dispute, then tell a sad story and got a seller to bite.

I think I sold to the same guy, i told him no partial refund just send it back. He filed for a return, never returned it and gave me a negative. He was a pain, I called ebay and got the negative removed. These are the guys you block

Look, the buyer and I have reached a solution. My immediate frustration from the email wore off, and I gave the buyer a generous offer. If he lied, that is unfortunate, but I did what I saw as best. I can only hope that the extra money goes to a useful cause, and he enjoys the irons and the game of golf.

The most important decision you can make right now is what you stand for- goodness or badness. How about a Fresca?

Is there a reason you won't post the Ad after being asked several times?

Sorry to be a pest but generally when you come on the DornoD board and ask for everyone's sympathy and advice, the price of admission is transparency.

I don't see myself asking for sympathy. As a matter of fact, I think I have taken the criticism pretty well here. And criticism and advice is what I asked for.

I am not posting the ad for a few reasons. One, the situation between myself and the buyer has been resolved. Two, I don't want the buyer to be hurt by this situation, and three, general privacy.

Keep an eye out. I will place a little wager that you will probably see your irons re-listed on EBay or Facebook clubtraders very soon for what you originally sold them to him for so he can double up on his profit.

Be that as it may, I can't control it. I can sleep well knowing I did what I thought was right. And that is really all I can do.

Buyer always wins on eBay. Always.

- Does not matter how clear your photos are, or how clear your listing is. Forget about calling eBay, or challenging. You have 0% of winning as a seller.

- If the buyer wants to send something back to you ... it's coming back, period, end of story. Your Ppal account will be deducted.

Just part of the deal with eBay. There will always be a certain percentage of jerky buyers who know they can manipulate the system ... so they do. It's why it's my last resort for selling.

...

This, no matter what. He can send them back for no reason at all. BB

This transaction likely never took place. There is no Ebay ad. Just another piece of fiction.

Complete BS. If this auction actually took place, which at this point seems unlikely, how would the buyer be hurt? Buyer IDs are hidden on Ebay. Nobody here would know who he/she is. And the privacy issue you claim is a flimsy claim as nodody knows who you or the buyer are. The reason you are not linking to it is because it never happened.

Ok. grm24. Thanks for your input. I said privacy, if that is flimsy to you, so be it. Not a concern of mine.
