Longest new 3 wood?? F8, m3, g400, etc etc?

Recommended Posts

Curious if anyones found the new stuff to truly be longer for 3 woods?

I demoed g400 titleist and f8 on trackman and none of them were close to my x2hot pro or 2016 m2, i was disappointed.

Im looking for more distance, the F8+ was the best and had a great smaller profile ut even with the nv green 2k x stiff i was hotting it way high in 13.5 setting 3500-4200 spin and only carrying like 230 which is my 3 hybrid so i wasnt impressed other than the looks

Anyone have a recommendation or good combo they found?

My m2 has oban purple in it and my x2hot pro has the tour green in it.

Thanks. Also searching for a new driver that can beat my ping anser, nothings been able to do it ever.

F7, Epic, M2 are all bombers. You're not going to find any substantial distance gains from the 2018 fairways. What can look for is consistency, and versatility from different lies.

The F7 is probably the most versatile, but honestly, it's whatever fits your eye, and has the shaft that fits your swing (that day). LOL

Spin seems high? Reason for distance loss? Need diff. shaft?

Yeah I thought so too and I thought the nv green woodcut the spin enough but the lowest number I saw was like 2900

I wouldnt want less than this for spin rate on a 3 wood. Rbz tour issued double stamp tour spoon is one to try. Very small profile with tremendous ballspeed and low spin. Nothing has beat the raw distance of this head but its not playable from the fairway unless you have a ton of speed. The specs on mine are 12.8 2.75 open and 57 lie angle.

My son uses a X2hot 3 deep with a 125msi Rogue Tour X handmade that originally came from a Q school player's driver.

He's hit this to a max of 280 on the fairway and 300 off a tee. The X2hot 3 deeps were max cor with a very thin face. His first one used that Tour green shaft and

he would hit it to 240-260 but he shattered the face with a sweetspot hit on a range ball, Callaway replaced it with a new XR.

I think that's why they discontinued the X2hots because of the return factor. We got another X2hot and put the Rogue shaft in it.

That handmade Rogue cost me $225 3 years ago which was way less than the cost new at the time. Most people wouldn't add a shaft that costs 3X more than the original club.
