I know I'm a new member and will be berated by some of the long time users for this, but I wish we could reform BST Topic guidelines to only describe the item for sale, I.E. 2017 Cobra F7+ (with whatever shaft and flex) with a subjective condition report that can be evaluated well by clear pictures. It's frustrating searching the BST for something and having to read through the 1000 click bait items hoping to find what you're looking for with little success typically. Any other suggestions...? Or could someone justify their opinion of why a title such," STEAL OF THE CENTURY MUST BY THIS ULTRA TOUR ISSUE RARE CLUB", with no description of said club or even giving an idea of what's actually for sale....

Thanks.

I agree. I dont even look at ads with no description.

Imagine how well it would work on eBay when the sellers title is “Wife said I spent too much last year, my loss is your gain”! Yeah, that’s the auction I just gotta have!

As a frequent buyer and seller, the BST seems to work fine for me as-is. Yes, some titles are overly cutesy and if no one clicked on those, they would eventually disappear. But I think sometimes people like to be entertained along the way. Go look at the WTB forum, that's as dry as can be. Useful, yes, but I wouldn't necessarily want the BST to become that bland.

I guess I can appreciate that, the BST forum should be fun, not useful. Point taken.

Just wondering why this bothers you so much? Relax and if you don't want to click on a listing because of a title then don't.... Personally I find most of them funny and its like Christmas opening up an ad and not knowing what my next purchase might be. The search function is not google, there is a trick to finding what you're looking for but on the most part I can usually find something specific....

Perhaps some of the other members can help define how to search properly....I know i've added a + for multiple searches before ie M2+stiff.

Ive just accepted it. Probably 9 out of 10 I just won’t open the ad. And there are many who feel the same as me (it as been discussed before). Every add like that is losing potential buyers. It’s potentially their loss.

Since the search function isn’t very good, if you’re looking for something in particular, post. WTB ad. Usually gets results for me.

I'll try that, it only bothers me because there's some very good deals on BST with reputable people, and sometimes it is annoying to sift through and refresh the search after clicking through each of the 10-15 search results to find they don't contain anything that pertains to the search itself. Maybe adding the + will help. I guess I don't understand why there's so much resistance to creating a format that would work for everyone and make the search function actually functional so it doesn't have to siphon through unnecessary descriptions. Form > Function I guess.

If you page through the classified ads you will generally see a trend that ads without descriptions and catchy titles get more views. Until people stop clicking on them it's not going to change.

Personally I like reading a clever title or well written ad, even when I have no interest in what they are selling.

You're doing it wrong. You know you can search JUST the BST forum, right?

Why would something that's been running successfully for years be changed by a new user with 200 posts?

Bye Felicia.

Yes, I am well aware of that. I'm sorry your limited sphere of influence has made you so incapable of actually comprehending what I'm saying. Feel free to remove yourself from this topic unless you feel like posting something even remotely relevant. Just like on the BST, you don't have to click on this.

MY most recent BST is exactly what you hate. But that being said, a catchy title will catch the eye more often than someone looking for a specific item. I feel that the amount of ads I see for shafts are all they same, so much so that I stopped clicking them and just made a WTB instead.

Nice going.. I guess you won't last very long here.

As many have pointed out, the titles are there to hopefully make people open the ad. If you don't like it, skip it. Search function goes through the body of the ad, and you can still skip the entries if you wish. 4 months and 200 posts and you are demanding a forum to change because YOU don't like it. Well, maybe you should move over to THP, they have the exact rule you are talking about on their classifieds, but good luck finding anything.

Ease of use isn't subjective.

It isn't?? So what's easy for me should also be easy for you? Obviously that's not the case since you are the only one who finds it difficult.

Ease of use isn't subjective. With only item/condition descriptions you would no longer have to read "The wife is sending me to the doghouse!" to find a set of wedges.

You know you can use quotations in the search function and it will only search for that grouping of words, I dont see the problem.... yes the ad could have a long title, but the search filters through bodies of emails, not just titles. So that long drawn out title could actually have the item you want at the best price on the BST.
