How well would you play against a tour pro if they played under your conditions?

I find It funny reading all these comments about people thinking a tour pro cant play after a hard day of work.

Lets not even consider a tour pro.

How many players out there work full time and have a family and are +2 +1, scratch.... handicaps. How do most of you even propose to beat them let alone a tour pro...

And these competitive am players are already living on your schedule! ( and shooting below par)

Take a 10 hdcp player and have him do exactly the same thing as a tour pro. Finish a tournament on Sunday, travel to the next, workout, hit balls on Monday, maybe play nine, Tuesday, workout, hit balls, walk eighteen, hit more balls, Wednesday pro-am, walk eighteen with hacks, Thursday through Sunday, walk eighteen every day and play under pressure. How well would you expect the 10 hdcp machinist to do?

Depends on the job.

Take a guy that’s never raked asphalt and make him do it starting at 6:15 am for 10 straight hours.then rush to the course for 5:15 tee time in men’s night. There’s a good chance he’s in the hospital by the back nine. I’ve posted a few rounds in the 60’s on days like these so I might be able to beat one of these soft handed pretty boys!

I think some people have different ideas of labor.

I've seen some good athletes try to work at a metal casting foundry.

They can handle the lifting, but when molten metal starts melting through their asbestos gloves, they start crying.

Same with the old sledgehammer users.

Swing a 20 lb sledgehammer all day for 10-12 hours and see what it does.

Watch the leather necks on a Haliburton drilling crew.

They'd rarely shoot over 65

Well they're good but they're human good and 65 is a 4-5x/year score for many touring pros

They shoot 65 a lot more often than that. Especially in casual round on a course setup for regular play.

Easy courses, definitely.

Amateurs would absolutely get destroyed. No amateurs are a match against PGA tour pros. To me, PGA tour pros are easily 10 strokes better than a scratch player on any track.

We had a Champions Tour exhibition at the club one year. Bob Murphy was one of the players and he was asking how many scratch players we have as members at the club. One guy said, 4 or 5. He said we have plenty of them on tour; we call them "caddies".

I'm sure some of you think you can beat Mark Crossfield (not me). And didn't Mark Crossfield beat one of the Molinari brothers recently? So maybe the top 2-3% of players here could have a 20% chance of beating a tour pro...

It happens. I played with Wayne Levi 1 year after he won the PGA Tour Player of the Year. We played nine holes and he shot...34. I shot 35 and I was 16.

I think the key here is in the original question. Your normal daily routine.

There is no right or wrong answer. It is dependant on the individual.

If a pro hung out with Keith Richards or Nikki Six, and shot heroin all day, could he still go out and shoot a 62?

Could he box all day and have Mike Tyson beat the crap out of him and still play?

Depends on your job and what YOU do all day.
