Wow, finally offered in the full range of loft and grind options! I was pretty set on sticking with the SM6’s but this makes it more tempting

As much as I’d like to try a raw Vokey, for the same price I had to go with a set of 3 brand new Scratch wedges 52/56/60. For the same price! Lucky for me, they have the grind that suits me.

If I were rich, I’d have a set of both.

can anyone speak of their experience between the raw option and the jet black finish stripped raw option? wondering if there are any discernible differences to justify the $50 upcharge. from what i gathered from the titleist site and interwebs, it doesnt seem like there is much of a difference between the two once the jet black finish is stripped.

Only visible difference to my eyes is the jet black stripped shows the casting imperfections and grain much more than the factory "raw". From my experience with several sets of both stripped and factory raw.

My raw SM5 58 rusted a lot more than the black SM5 50 I stripped. Both been in the bag the same amount of time.

The stripped head goes more of a deeper grey colour as a patina, I found.

This. They felt a bit softer to me, but I’m willing to acknowledge a placebo effect.

You can close the difference between the two considerably if you hit the previously black head with 220 grit and then 320 grit after you strip it.

Jet blacks+clr+scotch brite followed by steel wool. I had some, sold them to a friend. He didnt like how the black was wearing so I soaked them, scuffed them, soaked, scuffed, soaked, scuffed you get the picture. Finished with a good wet sand of steel wool and wallah, raw wedges. I didnt see any casting imperfections either but they were used to begin with and they had a few dings and dents anyway. Last I saw them they were rusting mighty well. You wanna spend $195 on a wedge, go for it, hell buy 2. Me I wouldn't, and I love Titleist, Vokey to death.

anyone have any issues with sm7 raw swing weights? ordered 52,56,60 and they came D5.5 and D6.5 in the 60. s400 tour issue standard length. took them apart and no weights in the hosel but will weigh each head against SM6 raw tonight. just looking to see if anyone else had similar issue. thanks

Lots of people drill out the back of Vokeys for this very reason.

I got a 46-52-58 raw with project x 6.0's and the weights were pretty spot on. D3 in the 46 and 52 and actually had the 58 drilled to bring the weight down to D4. If anything I would say my 46 and 52 have a tendency to feel a little light, otherwise I'm loving the wedges.

Reminds me of when Mercedes and BMW used to charge for taking chrome off....I really do think Vokey are missing a trick by not offering this at the regular price. Margins must be high enough.
