I just played February Golf, in Canada!

That’s right, you read it correctly, I played 9 holes of golf today in Nova Scotia. We normally have 3’ of snow on the ground this time of year and temps anywhere from -15*C to -30*C, but it’s been an unusually mild winter this year for some reason and we’ve had very little snow and basically none on the ground right now. Today it was beautiful out, 10*C and sunny, so I had planned on finding a field after work and hitting some wedges outside instead of simulator golf tonight. But on a whim I decided to call a near by executive course on my way home from work to see if by chance they might be open and sure enough they had all 18 holes open. It was soggy and the greens were aerated, but it was outdoor golf in February and it was Awesome. It’s gonna be an early golf season this year in Nova Scotia :)

Oh yeah! It was so much fun to play outdoors again, my swing was hot garbage and I didn’t even care. Contact was fine but the pushes got worse as I went on, left moving left. But with an early spring I’ll have plenty of time to undo what the simulator has done to it over the winter :)

So not exactly golf weather. Also there's snow on the ground still

I honestly think I was the only person on the entire course. If your ever up visiting them we should play a round, lots of nice courses around here :)

That’s pretty well what it’s been like here, except we keep getting rain right after it snows so there isn’t much left on the ground. Today was the nicest day of the year so far here. I’ll most likely be back to sim golf this weekend too, it’s supposed to be 5* with 30+km/h wind and that doesn’t sound like much fun. How much snow do you guys still have up there?

You’d actually be surprised how hard it is to find a bag that takes Lefty clubs properly Eh, they’re all made for right handed clubs.

Wow, well done Pigems! I live on the west coast and we can usually play all winter, albeit in the rain, but the past two winters (last year and this one) have put the kaibosh on that. Had snow on the weekend, now heavy, cold rain .........

Good for you Pigs. Played 9 holes yesterday as well. Ten days ago, would have said no way am I getting out anytime soon. With the cold and snow on the ground. But a recent warmup melted it all away. Yesterday was 61* and sunny (when I started), the course was open, let's go. Winter conditions, couple of temporary greens, but who cares. Felt good to get out for some whacks. Played two balls on occasion. But a little to much left and right was happening, chasing after balls. So ended up playing just one. There were others out as well, taking advantage of the stellar day.

 

Today, winter storm warning in effect. The forecast is for 5"- 9" of snow through tomorrow. Back to reality.

 

The clouds beginning to roll in, temps dropping. Last tee. Coming in. The Labatt's post round was exceptionally tasty. Had a couple.

Great I got to play 18 on tuesday it was 63 degrees sunny but very windy here in Chicago but it felt great to be on the course in feb. Today cold rain and wet snow.

I was able to play 9 holes in February for the first time ever. The only month i have yet to play a round is January. We had a couple days warm enough to play but i couldn't find a course open. Keeping my finger crossed for an early spring.

Sorry about that :) I expected buddy to laugh at me and offer me sim time wen I called, I really didn’t expect them to be open at all. I heard Eagle Crest and a course in Digby or Pugwash is open as well. Spring is upon us in NS!! When does Brunello typically open?

They won’t open until May I would think. They always seem to open with ashburn and glen arbor.

Bit of a tease eh? I was able to get to the range three times in the last 10 days or so, now possible that snow hits tonight! Still was nice to get out. Not sure where you are located but Beechwood has been open the last week or so, I cant make it there in time after my work day is finished but my pal who drives by it on his way home has said theres been guys out on the course a few days this week. Soon!
