I really don’t think the pimento cheese sandwiches are supposed to be “delicious”. They are supposed to be filling, cost almost nothing, and nostalgic for those lucky enough to attend multiple times.

 

It’s a unique taste associated with the Masters. I rarely ever make them outside of early April.

Sure thing, will be right on it. I do think you'd get blacklisted from Augusta if you did do that after making it through the gates. I can see it now, buying 20 sandwiches, and getting tackled by security / escorted out while trying to bring all those sandwiches out. Also the sandwiches will be splattered all over you, just like how villains get caught in cartoons, in addition to handcuffs... LOL

Man... I didn't even think of trying to get a sandwich home! I'll live the rest of my life with this regret.

I believe it's a southern thing - reading online it seems like it has it's place outside of the Masters

Definitely a southern thing. Plenty of people eat pimento cheese around my area in NW GA. One of the better restaurants around here has a pimento cheese and gorgonzola dip that is about the best thing you'll ever eat. There are also folks, like my dad, that buys the cheapest they can find in the store goes to town on it.

Jalapeño pimento cheese BLT will change your life. A Gas station Chain deli here in Jacksonville area has it on the menu.

We eat pimento cheese year round here in Southeast Georgia. On sandwiches, with crackers and even on burgers.

Bacon and jalapeño pimento cheese burger is pretty awesome.

 

During Masters week, though, it’s all about pimento cheese on Wonderbread sandwich. Add some Lays potato chips, either a moon pie or Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream pie, and a Diet Coke (what’s the point, right?), and you’ll have the same lunch I’ll be having!

I was skeptical of the pimento sandwich, but I will say they won me over. Remarkably simple and tasty, but I'm also a big cheese fan, so it doesn't take much. Wish I'd bought a dozen more for the trip home.

 

Wish I'd known about the pimento markers before they were sold out, I'd have bought one.

You just need to buy and eat plenty of them while you're there. Then save all the wrappers. Get home and make your own and ship them out, how will anyone know they're counterfeit?!

I love that this turned into a Pimento Cheese discussion. The Denver Biscuit Company makes a mean one - fried chicken on a biscuit topped with Pimento Cheese. Delicious.

There's a convenience store chain that's big in Kentucky called Five Star that sells an awesome pimento cheese sandwich. There's a cheese company based in St. Louis called Hautly that makes fantastic pimento cheese.

You know what I found really interesting about those pimento cheese sandwiches? Despite the fact they're on plain white bread, it never sticks to the roof of your mouth.
