Both courses look amazing via google maps and your pictures, but I am leaning towards Apple Valley if I could only play one.

Apple Valley looks incredible

I played both courses last summer. Nice resort, really beautiful and scenic area. Great place for an easy weekend getaway with the family.

 

Bald Mountain was great. Apple Valley was also good but extremely quirky. Example = There was a par 5 where everyone in our group hit a 7-iron off the tee. Yes, a 7-iron off the tee on a par 5 because the shape of the hole was so bizarre it was all you could really do off the tee. A lot of blind shots and weird stuff. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea from a design standpoint.

 

But still a fun track, in great shape and if you ever have to wait on a tee box for the group in front of you just look up at your surroundings and take in the scenery around you.
