Best driver under $100

I like that the 910D3 has been mentioned a lot. However, let me caution by saying that as a loyalist who played that club for almost a decade I was so shocked to see how slow it was and how much spin it produced when compared to today's offerings. I found almost 25 yds consistently by finally upgrading. The lack of forgiveness across the face was eye-opening as well... i didn't know what I was missing until I heeled one with a TS3.

Feel, looks, and sound-wise... potentially one of the greatest ever.

Callaway Mavrik SZ 9 deg  / Fujikura Ventus Black Velocore 6x

Callaway Rogue ST LS 3 wood (15 deg) / Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Blue 7x

PING G425 Hybrid 19.5 deg / Fujikura Ventus Blue HB 8s (tipped 1/2)

Mizuno JPX 900 Tours 4-PW / KBS C-Taper 120 Stiff

Titleist SM5 50,54,60 / KBS 610 Stiff

Taylor Made Spider X Chalk

2015 Great Big Bertha still brings it against the new ones and I also like X2 Hot or X2 Hot Pro, Ping G30 or G — all in your price range. Might find a Titleist 915 for close to that.

I saw a Srixon 785 go for $95 this week and that’s a great, fast driver only one series ago. Some brands just go for less quicker on the US used market and those are the serious deals on top-shelf equipment.

Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond 10.5 w/Diamana TB 60S

PXG GEN6 5 wood w/Diamana S-plus 70 stiff

Yamaha RMX VD 7 wood w/Diamana S-plus 70 stiff

Callaway Mavrik Pro hybrid (22) w/Aldila Tour Blue 85 stiff hybrid

Wilson Staff Model CB 5-G w/DG s300 shafts

Edel T grind 54 w/Nippon 125 wedge shaft

Fourteen RM-12 58 w/Dynamic Golds400

Axis1 Rose putter, 34 inches

Cheapest drivers that are still playable at nearly pro levels (imo)

For a low spinner, sldr.

For a playable model, 910 d2.

For max forgiveness, ping g 10-20.

I played a g10 for years.  10-12 years and while it said 9* I heard Ping was so off it may have been 11*. I hit it high and LONG!  I have always been a low ball player so the loft must have been jacked.  Had a 7s Voodoo after market shaft installed and for a while no one could keep up.  Miss those days.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.
Treat people the way you want to be treated

Cobra ltd pro is awesome... I put it against the 410 lst this year and it held its own...

have a sub zero in route that will probably kick it out because new is shiny... but it will stay in the garage.

Out of frustration trying several new drivers this year, I went back to the closet and put the LTD and G20 drivers back in the bag for a couple rounds each.

both of these can be found in nice shape for under $100.

The LTD is still one of the best for me, but the Ping G20 re-shafted with a KuroKage Silver 60X was in my bag for the remainder of the season.

it was as long and more consistent as anything.

Another Retro-Cult classic was the Cleveland TL310. Crazy long but more suited for my game when I was a single digit hcp.

I think with the changes in the golf ball since these older drivers were manufactured, they play so much better.

Just love my G20!

Ha, apparently you and I have similar tastes... I’ve got a cobra ltd pro in my bag right now... it’s going on the monitor against a mavrik sub zero I won... it might keep its spot!

Just put my G20 back in the bag as the G400 couldn’t keep up with it. The face depth makes such a huge difference and if just feels miles hotter. Just bagged another 9.5 with the same shaft as a backup for $50.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised at how great the sound and feel is.
I’m using the Tour B-XS and it just begs to be hit again and again.

I tried the SIM amd SIM Max in the bag this year and sold them both in favour of the G20. The SIM heads could hit a longer ball occasionally, but not by much and the consistency wasn’t there from round to round.

I gotta find a pink G20!

My back should be healed about the same

time our simulator is installed at the club... I put the ltd against the ping lst on a trackman when I was swinging pretty well and the fitter said he couldn’t really improve my performance.

working on optimizing my swing and launch this winter, so we will see!

though, sadly, I scratched the crown of the cobra with an alignment stick... it’s not deep or bad, just annoys me!
