Project X LZ vs. KBS ... What flex do I get?

I have been a longtime KBS C Taper Lite player and I am switching to Project X LZ’s in my next set of irons. I know Project X plays a bit stiffer correct? If I played the 110 stiff in KBS should I be going with the 115 5.5 in PX?

 

Anyone with experience between the two?

Right. Which is why I mention the 5.5 in PX. It’s only 5 grams heavier whereas the 6.0’s are 10 grams heavier I believe. I just know that characteristic wise the KBS feel softer.

I have some 6.0 in wedges right now...I believe they are named as stiff+ as 6.0. They're too stiff for me.

 

I would go 5.5 in your situation.

I went from CTL reg to PX LZ 5.5 and love them. Driver SS is around 98-100. I was a bit inbetween flexes and the 5.5s are perfect for what it’s worth. I got no feedback on loading with the CTL. Felt too light for me. I should have been playing stiff in the CTL all along honestly.

A lot of the new irons have the LZ shafts at no upcharge and the KBS C taper Lites are fairly expensive. Honestly I think the c taper Lites are too light in my irons. I want something a little heavier. I could go KBs Tour 120 stiffs which I have played before but I thought of giving PX a try especially if the LZ shaft is more live feeling than the original PX shaft

If you liked the KBS Tour stiff and it performed the way you wanted it to, then the LZ 6.0 may be the better option. Weights are the same but IMO the LZ has a little firmer feel to it.

 

 

If you wanted a little softer feel, then the 5.5 might be the better choice. Not sure how much difference in launch and spin there is between the 5.5 and 6.0 though.

Go and try them in case you make an expensive mistake. The Project X LZ 5.5 and 6.0 along with the KBS CTaper lite S are in Mizuno’s fitting cart.

Recently switched to Project X LZ 6.0 shafts from KBS Tour Stiff. Overall smooth feel is similar. LZ's are stiffer in the tip and have eliminated some of my hooks. LZ's launch a little lower and spin a little less as well. Happy with the change so far.

LZ's play softer than standard Project X does. I play 6.0 Project X historically and loved the LZ's in a 6.5

The PX LZ 6.0 is a much smoother shaft then the PX 6.0, I hit it in a 718 CB when i was warming up yesterday and although i wasn't testing it i did notice the ball flight was very high compared to my gaming PX 6.0 but i wouldn't say it felt soft altho maybe is softer but deffo felt very smooth but not my desired ball flight. I've played C Taper lites in S and PX LZ in 6.0 would be no problem imo but it is hard without trying them for you to really make a decision.

Bingo.... LZ is a much different profile, depends on how you load

I just ordered a set of P790s with the LZ 5.5s. I've been a long time KBS tour 120 stiff player and have loved their feel during loading and contact.  I just hope I made the right decision going to the LZs.

LZ is a sensational shaft and plays similar in stiffness to the DG S300. I have not played KBS shafts.
