Kelly Tilghman Leaving Golf Channel

Kelly come back.................any kind of fool could see

There was something.............in everything about you

Kelly come back........................you can blame it all on Chamblee

GC was wrong and WRX just can't live without you.

I'm struggling with how to put this nicely, but this is starting to get weird. But can we just stop? AAAAGH

Some of us were there from the start when she came on the scene. We all know the game is changing but when we start losing icons in broadcasting it is a completely different story. It boldly reminds us that "all things end."

You mean you were actually serious with that "ode to Kelly"??? and then you call her "an icon"??? Wow, weren't you the one lamenting todays society lowering the bar when it comes to its standards?

I lost all respect for her when she annonced a shot by Tiger as the "shot of the year" .....it was a practice round shot, sheesh! ...only exceeded by Mark Rolfing declaring Tiger "fit" after watching him get out of his courtesy car in the parking lot at a tournament...ugh

Im biased, but for me, that guy can do no wrong. best on course guy ever really. Also a cancer survivor.

And let's not forget, Rolf is from DeKalb, IL. Home of Cindy Crawford, barb wire and the NIU Huskies.

We need TGC to bring back Di Stewart. The Titleist commercials with her and SVP were awesome. Flopodopolous anyone?

It's ok.

Kelly was solid indeed but, the camera's at the Golf Channel are still pointed at Cara Banks!

....and the added British charm is such a plus.

Ugh, no. Someone needs to get Cara Banks to hide and then never look for her.

In your eyes

The light the heat

In your eyes

I am complete

In your eyes

I see the doorway to a thousand churches

In your eyes

The resolution of all the fruitless searches

In your eyes

I see the light and the heat

In your eyes

Oh, I want to be that complete

I want to touch the light

The heat I see in your eyes

I don't want to say goodbye

Let the stars shine through.

I don't want to say goodbye

All I want to do is live with you.

Just like the light of the morning

After the darkness has gone

The shadow of my love is falling

On a place where the sun always shone.

Don't you know that's where our hearts both belong?

'Cause I don't want to say goodbye.

Let the stars shine through.

No, I don't want to say goodbye

All I want to do is live with you.

Together our two hearts are strong

Don't you…Kelly

I'd miss her, but I won't be spending much time on the GC. I respect the player that Tiger is, and I'd love to see him win again, but, OMG, last night's update spent the first 10 minutes of a 30 minute show on the someone tied for 7th. Please, some balance. No better on NBC - we saw every shot of Tiger over the weekend. Didn't see much of Casey or Reed until they blew past Tiger from behind.

Kelly was probably pushed. Blair O'Neill will be around for awhile (15-20 years younger than Kelly).

I'll bite.

To all the girls I've loved before

Who traveled in and out my door

I'm glad they came along

I dedicate this song

To all the girls I've loved before

To all the girls I once caressed

And may I say, I've held the best

For helping me to grow, I owe a lot, I know

To all the girls I've loved before

The winds of change are always blowing (Kelly T is no more)

And every time I tried to stay

The winds of change continued blowing

And they just carried me a way................

The entire "lynching" episode was blown way out of proportion....It was an attempt at humor - which is always sure to offend someone. One wrong word and if that word was replaced with "beat down" or "beat up" or something else then nobody would give it a second thought.

Word at the time was that Tiger was not offended by it.

When Tiger made his first mea culpa one-on-one interview after his unfortunate episode - It was with Kelly on TGC. He could have chosen anyone and she got the gig.

Maybe Fox will pick her up and she can anchor the US Open...

It was typical of our society today. No matter what someone says, someone else will find a way to take offense at it. No matter how it was intended.

True - our society took it to a place where is was never intended to go.

I think her sense of humor might be dry in nature.

oh but come on now gents. all us WRXers know Kelly the TV annoucer for a long time, we instinctively want to give her benefit of the doubt. Eldrick actually knows Kelly the person for a reeeally long time, he instinctively gives her 100% benefit of the doubt. but the rest of this world lives outside that microscopic little bubble. in this situation those people have zero context when they read that "alley" statement. and so Kelly (rightly so) has got a major f'n problem on her hands as soon as those words left her lips. IMO that was a quadruple bogey she made on that one.

Sure it was a mistake...but maybe a bogey or double bogey. A quad? Tiger gave her a pass...good enough for me.

I wonder if we will get the real story of why she’s leaving TGC?

While it's most likely a bit on the risky side to make an assessment of someone you don't personally know I always felt like she was holding something back when on camera. Maybe it was just

her professionalism, but that's the way it seemed to me. With Kelly you always knew what you were going to get: a solid performance filled with a lot of information. Not a lot of glitter.

In any event to have spent 22 years in one job today is quite remarkable, especially in the TV industry.

Best wishes to you, Kelly!

I agree it’s over the top, but the TV ratings support their approach. 3 of the majors had a 3.6 rating last year. Valspar had 5.1 rating.

after 22 years, maybe she's just not enjoying it anymore. She made a good living, is worth over $5 million. Why not just do what interests her, or maybe just enjoy life?

From her farewell note, I would deduce that leaving was not her choice. Usually when it is they will talk about what they want to do/plan to do instead.

My guess is that NBC/Comcast wants a fresh new face. They are always chasing after the younger demographic for ad revenue reasons.

Agreed. The top brass steered this ship but there had to be a catalyst. The timing is strange - we got Tiger's comeback and lots to talk about.

Maybe she's got mono?

Seriously, they should have found a place for her.

Reporter or something?

lol - you really think they fired her? I know it people find it hard to believe some people do leave jobs and move unto new and interesting things but ummm.... millions do this . 22 years in a media organisation is a life time. The biggest shock is that she stayed there that long.

Personally, I don't think she was fired. I think they chose not to renew her contract like they did with Brian Hammons--another lifetime Golf Channel employee.

Probably as simple as they chose not to renew her contract. Doesn’t sound like she intends to retire. Her presence had been reduced quite a bit over the last year, so obvious what was coming.. unfortunately the people that remain are even more irritating. A British accent can be very unique, but good lord this cara banks makes me want to kick the TV set. And enough of that squeaky pipey voice of Paige MacKenzie as she slobbers about Tiger being back. When I see her and that lard bucket Rymer the channel is instantly changed as for the next hour it will be Tiger love....
