LPGA WITB

Just checked my email, and I see one from GolfWRX, "The Latest". Let's see, they have a short article on Patrick Cantlay's WITB, and Collin Morikawa's WITB, even though he finished 2nd at the Memorial, but no Yuka Saso WITB.

'Guess a U.S. Women's Open winner doesn't merit a quick look in her bag. Pffttt.

Information needed can be found other places than WRX.

Nelly's also had a PING hybrid in the bag this year.  I assume it was in at the KPMG unless she decided to play with only 13.

Hybrid: Ping G410 (25 degrees)
Shaft: Fujikura Ventus HB

@agolf1 is correct (and nice attention to detail, ie bothered to count Nelly’s WITB, to figure out only 13 clubs identified & possibly 1 club missing... maybe a ball retriever? 😬)

My hunch is that the popularity of a particular brand is tied to sponsorship deals. Ping has been a big supporter of women's golf for years, and it's reflected in the number of Ping staffers wielding Ping clubs.

It would be interesting to see the bag makeup of players not on contract.

Yep. I am far more interested in knowing what clubs players not on a contract are playing than what clubs players are getting paid to use.

Have you seen Bernhard Langer's WITB prior to his contract with Tour Edge.....it's a varied selection from the bargain barrel from Dick's Sporting Goods.

EDIT

Thanks

But some of the WITB's are really dated.

I think Katie and her team really need to improve their investigative skills.

I doubt Katie and her team are CLUB HO's...otherwise they'd know many of these bags are SO OUTDATED.

I think @Argonne69 could SINGLEHANDILY do a better job with more ACCURATE info...by simply doing Google searches of player pictures to know what clubs they current use.

I doubt Jenny Shin is still using a R1 driver and other RBZ clubs.

I think SNaP gave up her JPX 825 Pros in 2014....I think she was already using the JPX 850's Forged in 2015 ...I don't know what she's currently gaming.

JYK is now playing a TSi 3 driver, not a Cally driver.

I know the M2 2016 driver is a cult driver...but as of earlier this year Moriya is using a M6 driver....not the M2 driver.

etc etc .....many errors of dated bags.

I'm so surprised how many LPGA pros use "soft" light weighted iron shafts considering how far they can hit their irons.

But obviously it's how they load and unload their shafts...they have smooth timed swings vs. some harsh transitions common in we...the weekend hacks...myself included.

Kudos to Angel and Charley (BLADES) who game some stout iron shafts.

Charley has a quick and harsh swing.

I'd include Lexi....BUT .....her PX irons shafts are 5.0...she's be included above if they were 6.0 or 6.5.

I think Cydney Clanton uses PX iron shafts too...but I don't know the flex.

Love the LPGA WITBs

It's really what 95% of men should be paying attention to since they are equal if not better than anyone who doesnt play golf for a living. But men dont due to ego and etc.

Also love the fact that many LPGA bags are 'play what works' with a great mix of flexes and companies. Again a huge swath of men who feel they NEED to play X flex or all one flex because someone said so or etc and this just wholly disproves that.

Side note; seems like GDI has a real hold on the 'sub X flex' market in the LPGA where as Mitsubishi wins over most players on the mens tours in X flex+

I have to believe that her iron shafts are the same. It seems rare for a pro to change iron shafts.

Nice Titleist shill by Kang.

She played the TM M4 for a long time.

WTH...ya can't do a proper WITB without mentioning what shafts ya play and why.

I don't have one but my friend plays the Vokey 46*....I do agree it's a great PW for control.

I think the SM8's are better than the 7's.

This is really good...I saw it back in Dec.

RLB with TM's Trottie.

Listening to Trottie is enlightening from a knowledge perspective.

I like how he talks about adjusting specs based on playing conditions.

Seems like he brought the TM tour van to Olympic......it's rare to see a OEM tour van at a LPGA event.

There's also some good vids of Trottie building drivers for the REAL Dumbo...DJ ........and Rory.

It was funny how Trottie was questioning why RLB would be gaming a long driver that resulted in poor strikes.

I read somewhere....that RLB is/was a TXG ambassador....RLB is from Toronto (Richmond Hill??)...I assume Ian Fraser fitted her??

There's also a long TXG video when NYC visited Ian prior to the 2019 CP CWO in Toronto...you could see Tiffany Chan in the background.

It's too bad RLB never became a LPGA star...she wears knee highs🤣...hey she's Korean...but not in this vid

I found that interesting.

Nice swing, but unless she putts like Inbee or has Lydia's short game, she's a little light on distance-wise to be competitive, isn't she?

Got this for her 3 wood (off a tee) image.png.1a7156ffd2357e34d2d128776b3b63c5.png

and this for her driver

Edit: this was the best she got after some fitter tweaking, shows some value for the process I guess:

She has never been long off the tee and she got caught in the transition of women's golf with the emergence of the "power hitters" . . . the players with significantly more distance off the tee.   Couple that with their strong iron games and decent putting, the writing was on the wall.

While good, her short game never measured up to Inbee or Lydia's . . . but she remains one of the most well liked players in professional golf (including last year when several of the stars wanted to play practice rounds with her at Olympic Club).

RLB wasn't bright enough to visit the retired Swedish pro for an "enhanced" program to help her gain distance.

How you liking your Srixon driver?

Aren't you finding the 95 Nippons "soft"

How is the Bean working out?

The Infinite series pre-Covid was cheap when on sale.

They had a blade on sale at Diamond Tour Golf for $49 US.

My local Golf Town here has a ton of Infinite putters with a recent shipment...they aren't selling.

Have you heard about the new Wilson Triad ball?

It’s very good for me – nice, muted yet satisfying sound and quite forgiving for a ‘better players’ lower spinning head. Plenty long when hit properly and mishits aren’t overly punished. More forging than my Cobra F8+. I also have an F8 (not F8+) head that I swap in when my driving goes off, that head is so forgiving - it's in the bag now which tells you the state of my driving.

Aren't you finding the 95 Nippons "soft"
They’re not 950’s though, they are 980’s that are made for Srixon with a heavier weight and higher balance point. 103.5 grams in stiff. Nevertheless, they are a little soft although they feel great. I have put a 1050 stiff in my 7I as a test, that is 109.5 grams and my dispersion is better with no distance loss.
I may go to Modus 105’s X @ 112 grams at some stage.

How is the Bean working out?
Not great, I’ve taught myself putter fitting and a blade with a plumber’s neck suits my arc stroke and eye dominance better rather than the face-balanced mallet Bean. Fortunately, the Infinite’s are a great experiment and cheap as you note and I will be going back to the Windy City model I have for now.
I intend to get a Cobra 3D Grandsport 35 blade when I find one at a price I am happy to pay.

Have you heard about the new Wilson Triad ball?
No, I’m happy with my balls and don't wish to upset an organised crime group.🙂

Now, is there anything else that you’d like to know? 🤣
