Ok 15

It's settled. Send Ridley our demands.

Spieth had like 230 in and made it in 2, which is still further than adding 15 to all those guys that had less than 200 in.

You'd almost have to extend the hazard with the trees out to punish the people that hit a 320bomb over the trees than make it 15yd longer. Force them to shape it right to left.

Am I off on this?

Duval was and is the man.

yes, one of the few/only dude to take down the GOAT in his prime in a major.

I don’t think he ever played against Jack!

Since you subtly drop the GOAT thing in about half of everything you post, I thought I’d go with the stock response from the old guard.

Just giving you a hard time man, even if I might disagree with some, your posts are always fair.

Can we please quit referring to Tiger as the GOAT? He doesn't have the most wins, and he doesn't have the most majors.

Yeah but he's the goat. Depth of field comes into play, and length of time during domination

Now end of discussion, back to talking about how solid Reed played.

Wrong. Now you are just making things up.

"Nicklaus and I were watching Tiger play on TV," Tom says. "I can't remember where it was. I think it was at the Senior Skins Game. So we were in Hawaii. I said, 'Bear, he's the best, isn't he?' Jack said, 'Yeah, he's the best.'"

The don’t need to lengthen 13, what they need to do is move the tee box about ten yards to the left. The problem with that is you will take driver out of a lot of guys hands.

If you wanted to be super critical, you could say Spieth choked Friday morning and that cost him the tournament. Exceptional round today but there's no way he should have been 9 back, after being 2 ahead in the first day.

Yes, I said earlier today Jordan must be kicking himself for holes 1-2 on Friday morning. Those 3 shots sure would have made a big difference today. But it was a heck of a run by him today to get himself into the mix on the back nine. He clearly knows his way around that course better than anyone.

I think he figured it out faster than anyone in recent memory. The only other people I can think of is Phil and Tiger.

Impressive record T2, 1, T2, T11, 3 in 5 starts. The kid is special that's for sure.

Phil's first 5 Masters as a pro weren't that good: T34th, DNQ, T7, 3, CUT, T12 (then he's pretty much Top 10 only for a decade with 3 wins)

Jack first 5 starts as a pro: T15, W,T2, W, W

Jordan ranks ahead of Arnie who went: T10, 21, T7, W, 3 (of course Arnie wins 3 of the next 5)

Jordan is even ahead of Tom Watson: T8, T33, W, T2, T2

He even beats out Byron Nelson: T9, T13, W, 5, 7, (of course, his next three starts are 3, 2, W)

I wonder if Finau will have his ankle MRI'd? Can't imagine as nasty as that looked that there wasn't damage. For all the dislike of Reed, it needs to be noted that he has some big ol' stones. There were people tailgating him for all the back 9 and he stared them down.

I know there are some people doubting the severity of Tony’s injury this week, this picture should remove all doubt , fantastic, gritty performance. Would be surprised if he is not a Ryder cupper this year! Future looks very promising

Tiger is the GOAT!

• 79 PGA Tour wins, second all-time to Sam Snead

• 14 major championships, second all-time to Jack Nicklaus

• Only player ever to win four consecutive majors

• Lowest scoring average in PGA Tour history

• Scoring average of 67.79 in 2000 the lowest single-season average in Tour history

• PGA Tour Player of the Year a record 10 times

You do realize you just made my point with he first two bullet points right. Notice they both say second? Ask Tiger if he is ok with that. I think you know what the answer would be.

Snead never gets enough credit for his dominating play... neither did Byron Nelson who won 11 straight tournaments... 11 straight... think about that...

11 straight for Byron and 18 total that year!

Jordan did not have free runs on the golf course as an amateur like Nicklaus, Woods, Watson, and others. Jordan's performance is insane considering the lack of experience. Finish 2nd at your first Masters and then just keep playing great the rest of the way. Fuzzy Zoeller won his first appearance and then barely did anything at the course for the rest of his career.

When I used to live in Dallas, it was great going to the Nelson while he held court on 18 and all of the golfers visited him on their way in to the card signing...

Anyone else get the feeling Reed is going to become a serious contender every year at this course? It's surprising he didn't play well here until this year. Putts very well, good short game, good iron game, loves to draw the ball off the tee (which is critical on a number of important holes).

Rory's career Slam could be a serious battle for him...Spieth will always be there. Reed could become a serious threat every year too. Rahm and Rickie starting to figure out the golf course too. Thomas is starting to show some signs of figuring out the course too. One of these years I do believe Rory will bring the A-game and will be pretty much impossible to beat. But we'll see...these other guys won't back down.

don't know that he'll be spieth, but i'm sure his first major will always bring back good memories and positive vibes, esp since it's the same course ...

I think there's a good chance that he'll play well there from now on for the most part. He eluded to making much more mature decisions on the course today along with help from his caddie. I believe he referenced the decision to punch out/lay up on 11? He said in prior years he would have tried to force something through the trees. Those type of aggressive decisions have been a problem for him and this win might just be the kind of positive reinforcement that sometimes just taking a birdie put, certain par is better than forcing an eagle opportunity.

Hopefully this round gives Rickie that same kind of boost. He didn't seem to press on the front when he couldn't get going. He stayed patient and let it come to him. Some of these guys that are known to fade on Sunday really don't fade as much as press the issue too much and make a big mistake. I think Rickie is/was in that category. Felt like there was always a head scratching decision on a par 5 with trouble that he goes for unnecessarily.

It's crazy that for as many great players that there's been, only 5 have won the modern day grand slam.

And even crazier in my opinion is that nobody has ever strung together 4 rounds in the 60s at the Masters, a streak that remained intact today. All the Masters played by so many great players from Jack to Arnie to Tiger to Phil and still nobody doing it.

Golf is hard.

The payouts for 2nd-5th are a lot more surprising than 1st place. Crazy numbers for not winning, lol.

They might be surprising in terms of the amounts due to the $11 million purse however they are paid out at the same percentages of the purse as a weekly PGA Tour event.

The venom is thick tonight

Congrats to Reed

Great round by Spieth and Fowler

Rory should have kept his mouth shut, he spoiled his own party

If Reed is fat then I should be laying down with a princess on a chain

I would have loved to see Rickie win, but I'm happy Reed got it done. Maybe it's the contrarian in me, but I'm enjoying the big middle finger the collective golf world (generally speaking) is feeling after this win. It doesn't hurt that it's a blow to all the people on here that like to get on their preachy high moral horse and judge players they've never met.

Chalk 1 up for the bad guys!!!!!!

^I don't get this whole Patrick Reed bad guy thing.

Those things he did or supposedly did decades ago?

If that makes him a "bad guy" you're making golf look even more wussy than many people already consider it.

There are no bad boys/guys in golf.

The guy that doesn't fit the media's desire for a new grand slam champion? Yeah. But not a bad boy.
