“He’s a good guy,” said Bubba Watson, who has gotten to know him. “He’s honest as the day is long. And he’ll always have your back if you’re his friend. Can’t ask for more than that." https://www.golfdigest.com/story/masters-2018-patrick-reeds-real-problem-might-be-that-people-just-dont-know-him

1. Patrick Reed is a known liar and cheater. He's the farthest thing from honest.

2. A guy can't have your back when he steals from you behind your back.

We have friends over every year to watch Sunday's round.

Debates / Discussions we had:

Nance said Fred getting the jacket in Butler Cabin in 1992 was the best moment of his life.............WTF?

Rory's "hoppy movements" after a good shot - shaking off tension or Zumba?

Should Reed be referred to as husky or doughy?

# 3 good as is, or does the green need more crown near Sunday's pin?

The greens seemed "too receptive."

Jordan's self-talk is very annoying.

#9 green seemed too sticky this year

The extra length at 12 was good

These two probably had something to do with the rain on Saturday night. My brother and I were fortunate enough to be there on Tuesday for the practice round and the greens sounded pretty hard and balls didn't seem to be sticking as much as they did on Sunday.

Not trying to get into what ifs or anything like that, but during the live broadcast I thought that Reed's ball wouldn't have stayed up on 13 without the rain Saturday night.

It happens every year. The winner seems to get some good fortune - such as the hanger on 13.

If I'm not mistaken, I saw quite a few balls hang up in that general area on 13 this week. I mostly watch Amen corner online occasionally flipping to featured groups, so I assume it was 13. I know it was a par 5 with the creek in front. Is 11 set up similarly?

Just wanted to add that Tiger Woods has spent the most consecutive weeks (281) and most total weeks (683) as world number 1. But as others have posted above, GOAT is a subjective call depending upon your criteria. Both TW and JN are or will be legends.

Last post.... Tiger's the GOAT!

That is all.

Since tigers not playing for 4 weeks we wont expect you here...

Way to show your cards and agenda. where was he cited for cheating in competition? I get it you dont like him but you calling him a liar while fawning over anything Tiger is a little much. lets not be hypocrites about this. You have every right to not like him but calling him a cheater and liar based on your opinion is ridiculous

Or maybe the competition/fields back then were thin as a scotch and soda at a 1/2 price happy hour.

I mean, cmon. We got every winner of 7 or more majors besides Tiger Woods

Played in the 60s or 30s or 20s?

You forgetting a few guys no? watson? faldo and phil?

Trying to diminish Jacks record to elevate tiger is sad. The era argument is so lazy and has been debunked so many times.

Agenda? There’s been numerous people who have all said the same thing: Reed is a cheater. Where’s their agenda? Cheating is only cheating if it’s done during competition? If it was just a simple practice round, Reed wouldn’t have had to cheat. I don’t dislike the guy completely, but Bubba is just way off and I’m sorry if you can’t handle that. Fawning over Tiger? I’ve been called a Tiger hater. Just can’t win.

It’s not just my opinion that Reed is a liar and a cheater. It’s the opinion of the people who personally witnessed those incidents.

Actually it is your opinion. None of those players have gone on the record and allegedly he did this in a practice round. As for the theft who can prove anything? Funny none of the players on that team have amounted to much so im sure there was some friction and jealousy. How come those issues didnt come up at augusta state?

It would surprise you to know Tiger rubbed people the wrong way at Stanford as a freshman as did Phil at ASU.Lots of similar stories about them. Hes a great pro, great ryder cupper and now major champion. At some point it needs to be let go because the accusers are wimps for not putting their name on it. Easy to hide behind anonymity and innuendo. Put your name on it otherwise stay quiet ( im referencing his UGA team)

For every college and PGA Tour star, there’s a bunch of his teamates that are going to be jealous. Very rarely is the star accused of cheating. The assistant UGA golf coach confirmed the opinion that Reed’s teamates had of him.

No Trevino quote or Watson quote? That settles that then :)

Watson prime was late 70s early 80s finished with 8 and easily could have had 10-11. It’s not impossible. It just takes special players like jack and tiger to get there(double digit majors)

I agree with you Low. I will defend Holy Moses only on the Tiger point. He is far from a Tiger fanboy. His comments usually fall on the other side of that coin more often than not. All this kind of talk is precisely why I love that Reed won. I highly doubt that all of the people expressing dislike for Reed due to these stories have a clean enough past history to even be commenting on him.

I was lucky enough to attend Sunday, and assumed the crowd would slightly lean toward Rory but that Reed’s Ryder Cup heroics helped win over a lot of folks that in the past rooted against him. Pretty much was dead wrong.

Walking around throughout the morning and talking to random people along the way, 90% were pulling for Rory (everyone naturally thinking the winner is coming from that last group. One guy I spoke to when I asked him who he was pulling for, without hesitation answered “anyone but Patrick Reed”.

I’m happy for the guy. As a fan, when Reed first came onto the scene I admit I thought who the f does this guy think he is? I became a convert in 2014, and his back story made me an even bigger fan. I’m lucky that my family doesn’t have any of these issues. I can’t even begin to picture a scenario where I would go 6 years without speaking to my parents. Sad all around.

With all of the media he’ll be doing in the coming weeks, if he doesn’t address the elephant in the room as far as why he cut off contact then I don’t think we’ll ever find out the truth. And that’s fine.

I was one of the few people around that 18th green genuinely pumped that Reed gutted out that win. Hard not to admire his grit and determination. Hail Patrick Reed!

He’s gotta lose those Nike shirts though! Cmon bro, those stripes on the sides are sooo bad. :)

Phil has 5 and Rory has 4. I doubt they'll get to 7+ (they can, but I doubt it).

Spieth has 3 and the best chance currently. But he'd have to win at least 1 every other year to get to 10 majors in the next 15 years.

Then we have what Kaymer and ZJ at 2 a piece? Doubt they'll add many to the count.

Out of the "really good" guys who have 1 major, I don't think any of them are likely to get past even Phil Mickelson or Rory at 5/4 a piece. Highly unlikely.

(DJ, Day, Rose, Garcia, Koepka, etc. JT has more years left in his career and he's the only ??? regarding what he's got in store.)

My 4 great 2018 Master's substories

1. Tony Finau shots -7 after complete ankle dislocation on Wednesday

2. Fred Couples shots 3 over wearing a back brace

3. Charlie Hoffman's atypical hole in one on Hole 16 Sunday

4. Rickie Fowler's great display of sportsmanship

Being the old geezer that I am......I can really appreciate Fred's performance. +3 for a 58 y/o with a bad back is incredible on a course like that. And of course Finau's effort was unreal too after dislocating his ankle.

I think you are listening to ten year old info. He did some bad stuff in college. Lots of kids do bad stuff in college. That doesn't necessarily define them for the rest of their life.

Using your logic, Tiger is a liar and a cheater. He lied and cheated on his wife over and over and over.

Why is Gary McCord always missing from the CBS golf crew when they do the Masters?

It was probably 10+ years ago now but he used the phrases "body bags" to describe the green contours and "bikini wax" to describe the grass length. So the joyless powers that be politely requested of CBS that McCord never step foot on the place again.

Almost. The bikini wax quote is correct but it has nothing to do with the contours. He said the committee should supply body bags for the players due to the speed of the greens.

When he was a new, fresh, somewhat irreverent voice among the many fungible whispering golf commentators, I enjoyed him, but over time his schtick grew wearisome. I think he senses this and tries to delve deeper into his approach, but now I find him annoying and distracting.

FORE RIGHT!!!!

I miss him at the Masters immensely. Yes, I feel the same way about the "joyless powers that be" (I couldn't put it better!) and I figure they are the green jacketed male senior managers at Augusta National. The broadcast is by far the most humorless every year. Those starch shirts should learn to laugh at themselves and let Gary back. He's a bona fide wit and is exactly what's needed.

I have no way of knowing if the stories are true. What I do know is, If you have ever cheated, you can never become a " non cheater" . The best you can be is someone who doesn't cheat any more. Time does not cure everything.
