Im only 3 rounds into mine but nothing noticeable yet. I thought i read something from Marty Jertson that they did something to this finish to make it last and be durable.

One round, minimal range time and some backyard pitching and chipping and if I clean it up, you can't even tell it's been hit. Will get it out for another round tomorrow. So far seems to be very durable.

I'm intrigued by your grind selections as well. I always veer towards the TS but I think I could gains some from the ES. I just get concerned as I play a lot of slightly open faces shots around the greens.

I currently carry a 54* ES and 60* TS............I like the ES so well that I’m going to order a 60*

54 SS and 58 ES for me. Finish has held up amazingly well so far with very little sand play. Sand is the wear culprit with black wedges.

I have about 10 rounds and 5 range sessions into mine. No noticeable wear on the sole. I do have some ball marks on the face, but no more than the glide 2.0 or original glides did.

I am really impressed with these wedges so far.

I totally agree these wedges are the real deal, amazing turf interaction.

What lofts/grinds are you playing??

54/60 both SS. In typical WRX style I pulled the stock shafts and installed limited edition matte black KBS Tours.

My son has had these since mid-February with 12 rounds and that many practice sessions including bunker work and they look like he just took 'em out of the box. This finish is really impressive.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Anyone try to dip these in a CLR bath and try to remove or dull the finish to raw? I'm not crazy about black wedges but do like the softer 8620 steel than the regular Glide 2.0.

There is no way CLR will even touch this finish.

It sounds as though the finish on these wedges may be similar to the DBM finish on some Maltby products. That finish actually penetrates into the metal rather than just a coating like a PVD finish that wears rather quickly. I have some DBM finish Maltby wedges and that finish holds up incredibly well.

Maybe it’s just me but doesn’t look any different or raw. Guess that answers my question.

It's definitely just you. In addition to stripping the 46 as seen in the pic, I recently also stripped the 52, 56 and 60. I will take some pics next time I am out with them and post them. They turned out beautifully.

I have the I200 irons and Glide 2 wedges. Both have Ping’s Hydropearl finish. I spoke with Ping and they say it is a plating process over top of the 431 stainless. It’s not a paint or material mixed in with the molten stainless. After playing mine for a couple months it seems fairly durable. I do see some slight marks on the faces but nothing bothersome. The rest of the iron bodies are wearing ok. These replaced a set of Titleist AP2’s (forged) that could knick up real easy.
