P-790 UDI

I currently game a 718 TMB 2-iron haven’t been able to hit it much since winter lasts apparently 8 months, but I was wondering if anyone has hit the P-790 2 iron. It just became available and I tossed the idea around of buying one. If anyone has info about this or even a comparison that’d be awesome!

Offset and the shaft. The UDI offset is about equal to the offset of the 5 iron from the 790 set.

Slightly lowered profile and tiny bit of cog adjustment too. And you get the UDI engraving which adds 10-100yards

Hmmm interesting. I have the 718 2 iron and I did notice it was hallow sounding. Obviously but you thought it was significantly worse?

I haven't hit the 718 so I can't say but directly comparing it to my 716, yes. Feels exactly like PXG irons.

If you go to the custom options, go to the p790 irons and remove all the clubs except the 2 iron and you can get whatever shaft you want in it

Common sense finally kicked in and I declined to run to the store to buy one. As pretty as they are, I'll have to stick to the multitudes of driving irons I already own. Taylormade has really gone old school in offering a 2 iron to complement the P790 irons. Same head, same everything except it's 17°, has a 2 & a UDI stamped on it. Really cool, but this is one TM bus I'll skip.

Lol good point. But counterpoint. NEW TM GEAR THEY NEVER RELEASE NEW CLUBS...... but for tea just went and custom built one and for one the shaft options even with the couple extra you get through the custom shop are shotty but after a $25 upgraded steel shaft the total was only $190. Not bad for what I thought it would cost.

Different strokes for different folks. The 716 T-MBs felt absolutely awful to me.

No UDI's in stock unfortunately. But I did hit the 718 TMB in a 2 and the FliHi in a 3. Can't pull the trigger until I give the UDI a hit. Other two are pretty top contenders though. The mizuno feels much more like an iron and the 718 seemed like it had a bit more ball speed but I guess we will have to try again in a few weeks.

I have a modus 120 coming in the 790. The T-mb has a kuro kage 85. Both stiff.
