LTD Pro - the quest to launch it higher

My LTD Pro with stock rogue stiff is a fairway finding machine. i love it. But i know im missing out on some yardages (compared to my old driver) because of my swing speed and attack angle. I didnt much care about the loss of yardage last year since i was so tired of spraying my drives left with my old driver previous years. so i decided i was going to be content with it.

Now, this year, IM trying to raise the loft to see if i can gain some of the distance back. But im trying to do this without purchasing the regular non-pro head (which is correct way to do it, i know). i really like my pro head because if the fade bias.

I have a Biocell+ adapter that tops out at 11*. If i put that in a shaft and set it at 11 which is the max loft, what loft am i playing it at with the ltd pro?

Point of this thread is i need ideas to raise my loft and launch. So any thoughts, please, by all means, tell it. Please no swing advise, i know all of them.

Shaft ideas ?

Will a cobra adapter with 12 degrees help me ?

What he means is the max setting on the Pro adapter is 10 degrees. A non Pro adapter at max setting even if it says 12 deg won’t add loft. It remains at the max setting of 10 degrees.

According to MGS, the LTD Pro vertical CG to Neutral axis is low, so teeing it high theoretically isn’t maximizing the energy imparted to the ball.

I meant you can't make a Pro

driver head play more than it's specified loft by using a normal LTD or BC+ adapter. The adapters are all the same with a fixed range of loft and lies. LtD Pro fade is LTD normal and LTD pro normal is LTD draw.

You know what, i was just given a warning a week ago for some smart-a** remarks, so i jsut deleted mine to avoid suspension.

So let me ask you a question Flapjack. What loft do you have your sleeve at ?

Usually 9.5F

I could get that same setting using the 11.5 setting of a normal LTD adapter. Think that's right..

The head determines the true loft.

Can somebody else confirm this ?? I cant raise the loft of an LTD Pro head more than 10 degrees ? Am i reading this right ?

I’m not a cobra rep but I believe that is correct from info on a few other threads I’ve read over the past couple years. The face itself on the pro is lower lofted. Whatever your max setting is on the sleeve only is going to set the pro at its maximum loft, if you sleeve goes to 12, that setting is still only 10 degrees actual loft on the pro.

I believe you are stuck with getting a non pro head to address your issue.

Think of the various settings on the adapter as #1 through 8 rather than 7-10 degrees. Since the heads manufactured loft is fixed, all you can do is adjust loft via face angle by those 8 settings. Another adapter will be marked different (see pic or pdf) but when inserted in the same head will have the same 1-8 options, JUST LABELED INCORRECTLY FOR THAT HEAD. Popping in a different shaft cannot magically change the heads properties.

The settings gs are on the head, not the adapter.

The head has its settings. Whether it is 8, 9 or 10

Thats all it can be.

Now, you have an adapter that is labeled 8, 9 and 10 which represents the setting on the head. Life is good and simple

Now take that adapter, spray paint it and label it with whatever you wish. Let's go with 10, 11 and 12. What changed

Nothing

Only the numbers. The head can only be what it was designed to be. So if the max was 10 the max will stay 10.

It’s Cobra’s fault for the confusion. They should’ve labeled the adapters +2, +1, 0, -1, -2 like most others instead of lofts.

Flapjack is correct. The loft is built into the head and the adapters all change that by the same amount. 10* is all you can get out of an LTD Pro.

Golfworks sells a Cobra adapter marked like this.

Clears the confusion except that the heads are not marked.

Now i feel like an a**hole. Apologies Flapjack for doubting you.

But i still dont understand how raising the loft on the sleeve doesnt change the max loft. im trying to picture it in my head, but i dont get it.

Somebody pretend im a donkey and explain this to me in layman terms.

i get what youre saying, but it still isnt quite making much "sense" that i fully understand it.

im picturing this:

say driver's face is sitting exactly at 0 degrees,. that means ZERO loft, and sitting perfectly vertical to the ground like say a putter's face. Now, an adapter is then used to change the angle of the driver's face, so i can point the face of the driver into the ground, or up to the sky. right ?? so i should be able to use an adapter and do exactly that ! Am i dumb ?!

This is exactly what I am afraid will happen to me -- love everything about the pro but have an extremely hard time launching it high enough -- How much more fade bias is the pro vs the non pro LTD

No, the Cobra head has a native loft. I think yours is 8.5? Then the angled adapter can turn the face angle and loft by 1.5 degrees up and down. So you have the range of 7-10. If you take your adapter and stick it in a Cobra fairway wood, you'll get the same lofts as you would using the fairway's adapter. Yours will be showing about 10 degrees less than the true numbers, though. The adapters are completely identical, until they paint the numbers onto them. I'm sure they wanted to make it as easy as possible for the buyer, but once the shafts and heads get out in the wild and start swapping partners, it gets very confusing.

Yea, i get it now.. its quite perplexing.

i actually took the pro head off, stuck an adapter in it and started twisting and turning it trying to make sense of it all lol.

Looks like i would have to buy a non pro head, but im afraid that i would lose $200 if it doesnt behave like my pro head. i wonder if forgiveness is there.. i wonder if the hooks would come back since its more upright...

Can someone tell me if i can use a pro adapter with fade settings, and put it into a non-pro head and have fade settings.. i doubt it but there has to be a way to flatten the lie angle of a nonpro head. Ideas Flapjack ?

No unfortunately. The lie works the same as loft with a min and max designed into the head not the adapter.

I tried the Pro head first because of the fade bias, too. But, like you I seemed to have issues getting it to launch higher... I gave up on the Pro and went to the regular LTD head and it was great. It did launch higher and did not seem to want to go left unless I put a really bad swing on it. I worked on hitting up on the ball and a few times I hit some BOMBS with that thing...

The adapter had me confused as well for a while but it really does make sense... It just moves the already lofted head 1.5* up or down MAX. Had most success with the LTD black at 10.5 rogue X.

If it's worth anything, I have both heads and can play both easily. There's not that much difference loft OR lie wise, IMHO. IIRC, the Pro is maybe 2* flatter at the most. In a driver that is practically nothing.

This will blow your mind... you can use a LH adapter and the head still has the same actual settings available. But the numbers will be flipped from low to high and vv. Like I say, there is only one adapter but it can have a lot of different numbers painted onto it.

maybe, maybe not. until i try it i wouldnt be able to agree with you. but i hope youre right because thats my 2nd move. Just spent $50 on a fubuki tour shaft to see if it helps get the spin up a little bit. might even have to adjust my setup and ball position which i hate to do but might just have to. Prob wont help, but i need a 3wood shaft anyways, so illl just cut it down if it doesnt work.

if the LTD werent so damn great, it woulda been much easier to just bench it.

Had the same issues

Had a matrix 7m3 in mine and all I could hit were low spin worm burners (I’m usually high launch player that uses mid launch shafts)

I put in an attas shaft I had it helped a little but at this point this driver just hit straight low spin shots ... that finds fairways

Add hot melt as far back from club face as you can on sole of club. Like moving the weights in an epic sub zero this will in theory increase launch.

Flapjack is right about adaptor. You can use a cobra fairway adaptor in that head if you want but it certainly is not going to give you a 19* lofted driver.

You'd have to add a *lot* of weight to move the CG enough to sufficiently influence trajectory.

Loft is king, but if the 10* max loft of the LTD Pro isn't quite enough, maybe try a shaft designed to help a bit. I had success putting a VS Proto in an XCG7 Beta. I normally tend to the NV / RIP Alpha / Tour Green side of the Aldila universe. Maybe a Tour Blue helps a bit.

With apologies if this has already been tried and I'm merely giving a pointlessly redundant suggestion....

I understand that conventional wisdom states that a lot of weight would need to be added, however manufacturers continue to release clubs with as little as 12 grams of weight that you can move around to produce different shot shapes. Including raising or lowering spin and trajectory. Independent testing data is also out there that supports the manufacturers claims of bias changes due to weight movement.

I don’t know which is correct, but I like the sound and weight of a hot melted head anyway and it’s a cheap way to perhaps fix his issue. Throw a CB shaft in and 14 grams of hot melt. May just fix his issue... or it may just make for a better sounding driver. Win either way.
