Yeah, Captain America is kind of poking fun at his wild patriotism along with his big ego and self-admiration (which they all have, btw). It's like Ben Crenshaw being called "Gentle Ben" for having a terrible temper (true).

I’ve heard a lot of guys on tour refer to him as “P-Reed”. I remember the first time I heard it a couple of years ago I did a double take thinking they just called him “Pee Wee”.

As has been mentioned, the Ryder Cup, though also the Olympics, when DJ & Jordan bowed out due to fear of Zika virus(what a crock of shat??), and Patrick stated that anytime that the opportunity presented itself to represent his country, he’d be there.

Alienated family, personality flaws, constantly being disrespected in his own mind and according to others.

Im not a fan of Patrick Reed. Its fun to make fun of him. Hes a sports figure, who gives a crap. Its all entertainment for me.

My wife, who knows next to nothing about golf, was sitting here when one of Reed’s post round interviews was on. She looked up and said “that guy just looks like a ******”. Doesn’t know who he is or anything about him, just how he comes off.

 

I personally like his swing, he’s gritty and gets it done when he needs to. I don’t know him, know nothing about his personal life other than what the media and forums have said. I don’t dislike him, Just like I’m not a fanboy. I could take him or leave him. He’s a force on the Ryder Cup team, and he is a hell of a player.

And even though Rory is rather modest most of the time, the press brags him up endlessly, because he is so GC (golf correct). This week, he folded like a lawn chair to a bulldozer of a player. Rory clearly wasn't ready. Will he ever be? Rory fans will say "sure." I hope he does step up and prove it, but many big name golfers missed "that one" elusive tournament they and their fans dearly wanted.

 

It's nice to embrace your favorite, but don't exclude the winners who beat them.

I think the Captain America thing is an acknowledgement to the fact that he asks for the challenge of the best of match play opponents. That and the fact he carries Jordan Spieth every time he plays with him as a teammate. He earned that nickname.
