@97speedster

Right Angle 2 came in the mail today. Of course I ripped it open and it looks like what Gronk wears on his arm while playing football lmao!!!

On a golf note, goes on rather easily. Tightened it up and made some swings......HOLY MOLY!! It keeps my right arm wide / away from my body. Swing feels much more compact, WIDE and powerful.

I set it on 1/2. Where should it be set on my elbow and how tight should I put it on?

I understand what it does for the backswing (wide and powerful) but what does it do / how does it translate to the downswing / impact of the ball?

At what point would I hear the clicks? I would THINK I should hear them as late as possible in the backswing, not when taking the club back from the get-go???

I see why you recommend it so highly. After making a few swings I made some swings without it on and felt how narrow / unpowerful I was going back.

Not a big training aid guy, but this thing is money!!!

Got to the range today to try the Right Angle 2.

Only tried it with the 50* and 56* wedges. I don't know what the difference was but I was flying a 113 yard flag with the 56* by about 2 yards or a little more. I usually only try to hit the 56* at most 110 yds, usually 105 is my max distance with the 56*. I may have to swap the 50* out of the bag for my 52* as I was hitting the 50* much farther than the 56*. I should have been aiming at a different flag instead of the 113. Possibly it was a combination of width, not collapsing at the top of the back swing was the big difference when using the Right Angle.

Took some getting used to and to be fair I hit a ton of bad shots until I started getting used to it and even after. If I didn't get my weight on my front side, stopped rotating, and flipped seemed like there was no saving a shot. Not that I'm good enough to save a shot anyways. There were some swipes, some fat, and more than enough good ones to know I'm on the right track

I like this Right Angle contraption and will continue to use it. I reckon I'm gonna have to film my swing to see what it looks like when wearing the Right Angle.

@97speedster - Just want to say that I/we appreciate all you've done for us on this thread. The information you are sharing/have shared with us is priceless. I know I'm not implementing JB 100% but what I have implemented (am trying to implement) has made a huge difference to me and you are a major part of what so far has been a tremendous improvement in my golf swing. Thank you!

Been a while since I've videoed my swing. Time is about right.

If you don't mind me asking what is the App you are using when you display the stills of your swing?

BAHAHAHA - I haven't hit a draw in months. Just hooks and slices lol

Do true. Excellent from hip to hip. Geoff Jones (slicefixer) like to put Jim aside with Garcia. They are practically identical from hip to hip.

But as much as I like Furyk’s swing I think he gives away some power. The most efficient ones can step on the pedal from the top, but Jim has to hold back during transition. Nevertheless a great player and a great swing in all aspects except power.

It seems at times that one of the hardest things for a golfer to do is change his swing without the benefit of a Instructor. This is a hard road to travel. But yes, it can be done as long as we are willing to practice, are knowledgeable in the golf swing, are willing to record our swings and be honest with ourselves in what we see in video, ball flight and what we feel in terms of contact.

We must remember that feels are unique to an individual. We can describe the same movement of what we are trying to accomplish but each individual will feel this differently. I could say that I feel I make a swing with more width but until I analyse it on video I don't know that I am making a swing with width. I don't know that I make a swing with a correct motion, with width until I go out on the range and practice, drill and make an honest assessment of what I am doing and what I am trying to accomplish and what the results of the ball flight are telling me. Hmmm, seems that 97speedster has said something similar to this.

_(Today I had to make this honest assessment. Started my range session with the Right Angle 2 thinking I had width and was making a good back swing. This was not the case today. I had to look at what I was doing then start to assess what I needed to do then drill what I am thinking I should be doing in my swing to get more width and a correct take away)._

We read a book, an article in a magazine, talk to our friends and our peers, watch a video then go to the range and expect miracles to occur. We may have one good range session or one good ball striking day and believe we have found the secret only to have that secret disappear the next round or range session.

The only way to build a good swing is to work at it. Dig it out of the dirt as Mr. Hogan said. There are no miracles and no quick fixes no matter what the magazines, youtube videos and radio shows tell us.

There is learning from failure and building on success through a gritty determination to be the best we can be. It is building upon our successes, no matter how great or how small that will lead to a good consistent swing. Consistency/Repeatability is a secret that we must all strive for.

We must manage expectations. Tour pros and good amateurs do not hit every shot great every day (TV is not everyday reality). That is why tour pros and accomplished amateurs rely on their short game/putting as a weapon that separates them from the other guy. We are not gonna hit every shot perfect. Golf is not a game of perfect (thank you Bob Rotella). Of course what is a bad shot to a tour pro or accomplished amateur is very different from on of our bad shots, or is it?

Golf is managing our misses, hard work and a lot of fun. Always remember that we play this game to have fun unless we are playing for millions of dollars.

Furyk is a Hall of Famer but I don't want to try to swing like Furyk. I have enough to say grace over trying to swing my swing. :)
