Just the opposite at my house. Green-ish grass to the north of me (south-facing) and two much damn snow still piled up in my yard.

Thursday league? Delacour or River's Edge?

Let's hope next Friday we see some places open. If weather remains good the flat links courses should get cracking. I imagine tarps will be being pulled on thursday

That would be nice. I'm more interested in seeing range balls fly outside.

Priddis and Redwood haven’t even plowed off greens yet.

If the course has poor aspect or a lot of trees May long is gonna be dicey.

100% agreed. Even the River's Edge Thursday league may be a couple sessions late, given it's location

I'm also interested in something like this, or finding a few folks to golf with weekly.

BTW, I didn't reply to this before but I would be up for the odd WRXCalgary outings here and there to see what the area has to offer. Since I've been back to golf I have played mostly a couple of munis (Shaganappi and McCall Lake) and Inglewood and I know there is a lot more quality to be had. I loved Inglewood but I was surprised how much I liked Shaganappi for what and where it is.

I'm open to anything. Shaganappi, McCall Lake, and Maple Ridge as city courses. Lakeside in Chestermere and the Strathmore golf course are nice and less expensive and with Groupon.

Last year I played 21 rounds total on the following courses:

GlenEagles

Strathmore

Brewsters (Kananaskis)

Glencoe

Lakeside Greens

McCall Lake

Shaganappi

Silverwing

Mckenzie Meadows

Blue Devil

Inglewood

Springbank Links

I got notification from Fox Hollow. They'll be open Monday on regular greens. Nine holes for sure, shooting for all 18

No word on anyone else.

I'll be looking for an outdoor range

Cool how is GlenEagles? I drive by it regularly and it looks like a fun links style course if a bit short.

I have a buddy whose a member at Earl Grey and from the functions I have attended there I would love to give it a go if I could get access.

GlenEagles is challenging, and doesn't play as short as it looks. VERY tough when the wind is blowing more than a light breeze

My plan is to hit a lot of the courses I used to play (listed below), while playing a lot of the others I listed previously.

Wolf Creek

Kananaskis

Paradise Canyon

Magrath

Waterton

If weather holds, there will be a large selection opening next week.

RE: Glen Eagles, overpriced imo. I would rather drop that kind of coin at Redwood, sirroco, lynx ridge...

For relatively 'cheap' options within the city. Canals is right up there, has to be one of the best courses in the city and the greens are mint. Speargrass is a fun track.

I think everyone should spend a day in sundre and play Coyote Creek then move on over to Sundre Golf Club. Reasonable day and two fantastic courses that are usually in awesome condition.

Don't count out Water Valley, fun track!

Cheers gents, this time next week, some of us will have some rounds in

Agreed, without discounts, GlenEagles is over-priced, and I'm not particularly fond of the short driving range (6 iron or less)

I like Speargrass, and would like to play Delacour this year as well. Sirocco is again on my bucket list for this year, and I need to get back to Lynx Ridge.

If you haven't tried Lacombe, you should. Tree-lined and small bowl-shaped (upside down, of course) greens

I wish everyone who can get out, the best. Enjoy it.

Just the driving range, I thought. It's supposed to be under construction this year, no?

Anyone here in YEG know of any more course opening dates? The only ones I've heard so far for sure are River Ridge Thursday and The Quarry on Friday. The Ranch is supposedly deciding this morning when to open, and apart from that just looks like a bunch of courses with ranges open (Lewis, Broadmoor, Millwoods, Eagle Rock)...

Excited for the season (finally!), hopefully this weather holds and it's a long fun summer of golf!

Maybe try Twin Willows. Where do you all find golf deals for Alberta?

Got a tee time for silver wing on Saturday, good place for an early season round considering blue devil wants to charge $70

You need a fourth? ;-)

They only had a twosome but when I looked there were a couple times left and quite a few on Sunday as well.

Got an email from Inglewood yesterday, they open Friday so you could try there. :)

No worries, I was just "poking the bear". I need to hit an outdoor range a few times before I'll consider playing a round of golf.

All good! I go to the Golf Canada Centre, they're open year round with heated tees and full ball flight.

If you're waiting to hit off grass, the Douglasdale driving range is the best value IMO but I don't know when they open.

Silverwing has a grass range as well. I used it a lot last year as it was 5 minutes from work. Yeah, I need to make time to get out to the RCGA range more

Thanks.
