Alberta Courses

Saskatchewan is opening courses May 15. Here’s hoping the Alberta government follows suit. I have been down to our course to take a look and everything looks pure. I am trying to stay positive that this can happen, but who knows.

I am hopeful but would be surprised if anything stays open. Sad time As lakeside is being redeveloped. It was a fun track and now there will be more people looking to join elsewhere.  Good thing abo

I have a time booked at rivers edge on Saturday. Snow will be gone by then

Decided to pull the trigger on the G425 Max, went out to the range & hit it with the stock shaft, amazing performance gained a bit of S/S & found it to be very forgiving on miss hits, it meets

Excellent news .... walked 9 on the Sylvan G&CC today, most of the snow is gone, lots of standing water they have pumps on different fairways, greens don't look to bad, some brown spots, deer look healthy, we need some warm temps to improve condition, May 08th would be great for opening day.

Why m? Did they announce this?

how much more do they need to see about this virus? Ppl get sick yes, but 95% of the ppl that get it recover at home. Why are we quarantining healthy people? All this is going to do it make everyone sick once they go out becimause no immunity has been built up.

i am a front line worker. No one in my department is sick from it and we deal with very unsanitary people. Police department had had 1 person. Ems. No cases I know of . Fire? No one.

we have to get back to normal life here if we don’t the next epidemic is going to be mass suicides and mental health problems.

even if we quarantine for a year, there are still going to be new cases.

There has been no official announcement made for golf. Caution says that as cases are around 200 per day, they are not going to relax anything. Sucks for the golfers. I hope they change their minds. The mental health fallout as mentioned could very well become greater than the actual illness.

indont mind the three hours to Radium for the day

Still holding out hope for mid May. But with each announcement it gets less likely. Our course is trying to ramp up for May 15, but I don’t know. It’s pretty frustrating that’s for sure. I have friends that stayed and played at Copperpoint in Invermere over the weekend. They said it was empty. That might be the way to go.

There has never been a time when I wish I was more wrong.

Even if they do open up, I have my own issues with no ranges being open and no way to warm up properly.

Alberta had 216 add'l c-virus cases yesterday a number of them related to the Cargill plant in High River & JBS Plant in Brooks, unfortunately the number will increase over the next few days. I imagine these hot-spot have Denna Hinshaw & her team occupied and the easing of restrictions and her announcement for opening Golf may be delayed a bit. I do believe Golf will still open here by May 15th the same day as Fishing Season.

Edit: ... some Gun Ranges in Medicine Hat will re-open Friday, May 1st, so Driving Ranges may open soon, too.

During the live TV briefing this afternoon, Jason Kenny just said his plans to open up the Prov will be similar to what our 2 neighbor provinces are doing. He will be making some positive announcements later this week to gradually remove restrictions to allow for more economic & social activities in a measured way. They said the new modelling numbers look optimistic for the Prov. He also said they hope to advise us opening dates originally he said it was going to be in June but now it's looking like May ... more to follow.

Agreed. And 1 month or 2 weeks makes a huge difference to courses since the season is so short to begin with. I am still optimistic that it will be mid May. But nothing surprises me anymore. Here’s hoping, our course looks like it wintered very well. I can’t wait to play.

We have times booked for Kananaskis June 19 weekend and the course just sent us a note that we are good to go. I have no idea how they can know that at this point, but that’s what they said. Maybe an announcement is coming today...

Edit: ... paid for my 2020 membership at X-Mass and saved some cash, tried booking a t-time using the Chronogolf online booking program ... says my home course is still closed ... Yuk. Called the Pro-shop, no answer, I imagine the pro-shop phone will be busy tomorrow.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
