Yay, that means you can send a couple strokes my way now.

I figured out how to change mine, it's headed in the right direction.

Your H/C isn't even shown in your profile, it's probably lower than Cruisin's, since your ball is 7 yds further.

Enjoy the golf weekend.

Speargrass greens are unreal right now. But yah, needs a few days rain to green up the fairways

Strathmore was very green today. Greens awesome (5 island was shaggy though)

my game sucked today. Worst round of the year so far..

I got out to Strathmore today. This solo golf thing isn't too bad. Done in 2:50. Quiet. Peaceful.

And you were right, very green out there. They must have cut 5 island sometime this week cause it seemed fine to me.

Also loving the pace of play!

Played “the track” last night. Teed off at 4pm and finished at 7pm. Solo round walking. Was a beautiful evening and shot 69 from the back tees.

think I found something in the swing that really tied everything together.

the course is actually pretty good right now! Green! A couple bare spots in the rough but overall it is prett my good abs the greens were nice!

Not a fan of the name, but looking forward to playing there this year. Anything to support the new ownership. Glad to hear it’s in good shape after suffering at the hands of Windmill.

Played D’Arcy Ranch on Saturday. Course isn’t in the best shape. Greens were shaggy and sandy. Bunkers were awful, tees patchy and bare.

They recently did the greens so probably give it a couple weeks. As for the rest of the course, who knows. Charging what they charge is criminal given the state of affairs.

Looks like Jason Kenney will be relaxing the rules a bit & we can go back to booking foursomes with the boys.

Starting June 1, Stage 1 would kick in, which includes:

  • Outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people.
  • Personal and wellness services allowed to reopen.
  • Restaurant patios allowed to reopen.
  • Outdoor sports and recreation for up to 10 people.
  • Retail stores allowed to have up to 15 per cent of fire code occupancy.

Link .... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/covid-alberta-jason-kenney-tyler-shandro-1.6040694

From the Calgary Herald.

  • June 1 (50 per cent vaccinated): Outdoor gatherings up to 10 people, restaurant and bar patios allowed to reopen, retail capacity increased to 15%, hair salons and other personal wellness services open by appointment, outdoor sports and recreation up to 10 people.
  • Mid-June (If 60 per cent of eligible Albertans are vaccinated ad hospitalizations are below 500): Libraries, movie theatres and gyms can reopen. Large public outdoor gatherings can resume. Places of worship and retail moves to one-third capacity limit. Restaurants open for indoor dining. Work from home order lifted.
  • Late June, early July (If 70 per cent of eligible Albertans are vaccinated): Most bans and limits on indoor gatherings “will be history.” Festivals and large outdoor events, including the Calgary Stampede, will be allowed.

It's been an interesting 3 weeks. seems to me the average game now is somewhere between 3 - 3:15 to play with some shorter and some longer.

I don't want to sound like a misogynist, but damn I am so sick of all these guys that bring their wives to the course who have never really played, and have no sense of urgency.

Hopefully this is over when they can all play with their friends again.

CHacker .... interesting observation, I've experienced the same on two different courses here in Sylvan.  As well, I can sit on my back deck at happy hour with a pop and watch every group finish up on #18, seen lots of families playing with their kids, too.  It's nice to see Dad taking his girls out for a round.

Good for a beginner?

Be good for a beginner. I have a couple scratch buddies that play there often.

I play in the men’s league. New super, course is a bit of a work in progress. Doing a lot of work on 4 and lots of tree planting.

Greens were punched a couple weeks ago, should be good now.

Well there needs to be a better Marshall for one thing. 6 groups on the 3rd hole. There was a 4 some playing together that was slowing everything down.

the upper Holes where in good shape, the 3 in the bottom need some sun and some love.

but was good. 77 from the blacks

They've removed a lot of trees around the tees and the greens on those bottom three holes. They are so much better than they were pre flood.

I want them to cut the branches back again on 13 and 14 and provide a bit more shape to those holes. It plays a lot more narrow than it needs to be and is shading the fairway a little too much.

Really like how fast they keep the greens now. It's been about two weeks since they punched and are almost fully healed now. The ponds on #4 are really going to help with the drainage especially coming out of winter.

Surprised to hear a backup on #3. It's not reachable for anyone ever, so that doesn't make sense for me. Sometimes see backups on #7 if it's down wind and from time to time on #8 because it's reachable.

Was just back up due to a 4 some of ppl who are not regular golfers. And everyone behind them was twosomes or singles.

And yah I forgot how tight those holes in the bottom are haha. Hit some good drives though. Was in the fairway on all 3

Not sure if this is the right spot but I'm going to be in Canmore this August and would like to play a round or two. The big four seem to be Banff Springs, Silvertip, Stewart Creek, and Kananaskis. I have lots of "traditional" golf courses where I live, old courses, very flat, dogleg right, dogleg left, sausage, rinse repeat. It's good everyday golf but it's fairly unmemorable, a lot of the holes end up being a blur.

When I'm travelling I like to be wow'd. I like elevated tees where I can see the entire hole, I like elevation changes, dramatic carries, etc.. courses I've enjoyed out west, Tobiano, Predator Ridge, Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

I walked around Banff Springs last time I was in the area but didn't have time for a round and while the backdrop of the mountains is beautiful, the holes I saw seemed meh. Basically holes I can find at any city course, but with a mountain backdrop.

I also peeked in at Silvertip and it looked pretty spectacular, but I can't tell if it's one of those resort style courses that takes things too far and it becomes gimmicky target golf with 140 yard second shots on a par 5 because you have to land on some fairway island between two creeks, etc..

Kananaskis looks like a beautiful setting, but flat golf, like Big Sky in Pemberton.. which didn't do much for me.

Stewart Creek seems like it has more in common with Silvertip than the others, it seems to be quite popular on here, and silvertip seems quite polarizing.

So based on what I'm into, where should I play? 🙂

I actually quite like Silvertip. I know “better players” typically don’t like it.. but I think it’s pretty spectacular. To me it’s worth a play, but I like big elevation changes and some crazy shots. You are literally playing golf on the side of a mountain. Stewart is a better course, but I would play them both.

100% agree with Mike.  Play them both and I would pass on Banff Springs (not worth the price IMHO).  Hope the weather is good for your rounds.  Enjoy.
