Chris Cote Golf Shop equipment fitting review

I was recently fitted for irons and woods at Chris Cote golf shop, and opted to have Kyle fit me based on some reviews I read.

First off, turns out he is a darn good golfer along with being super knowledgeable about all things golf equipment

The fitting started with my explanation of ball flight tendencies, along with an explanation of my current setup.

I explained to him that while I am concerned and interested about the trackman numbers I don't want to get too caught up in the minutiae of the process.

He put me on the Mizuno DNA analyzer and very surprisingly, my numbers were incredibly consistent Swing by Swing.

We quickly identified three or four different shafts that would be optimal for me and it turns out that my trusty Dynamic gold s300 was the most preferable.

It was then time to move on to the driver and I had already had two drivers in mind, the TaylorMade M3 and the Callaway Rogue.

I hit as many balls as I wanted to and Kyle remained attentive all the while making suggestions along the way as to what may best suite me shaft wise.

After finding the shaft that was optimal for me we finished the fitting with a discussion about the types of grinds that best suit me in my wedge game for my home course.

The overall experience was wonderful and I will continue to give Kyle at the Chris Cote Golf Shop my business.

I've keep hearing a lot of great things about this place. Each year my family always ends up getting me gift cards to Golfer's Warehouse, so it becomes very easy for me to buy things from there...but if I had my choice, I'd rather go to Chris'. Maybe going forward I'll kindly mention that if they plan on getting a gift card, get it to Chris Cote's Golf Shop LOL

 

I went there....like, 9, 10 years ago?? I just wanted to see what it was like. Chris spent an entire hour with me while I hit balls into a net. This was completely free, mind you. I wanted to get a sense of what I might need in the future. He mentioned the Project X Rifle 6.0s I had were probably too stiff for me. Back then I knew my driver shaft was stiff, so that's how I based my selection for the iron shafts.

 

Needless to say it was very eye-opening, and a fantastic experience.

I've always chimed in on Cote threads or CT fitting threads and Kyle and Randy in particular. Its just laid back and customer centric. Kyle stays out of your way but if you want to get into nitty gritty on LM numbers he absolutely will .... mostly to dispel myths.

 

He will then walk you over to Steve and specifically tell him the fitting results and what the club tweaks are .... Steve has been building clubs since he had to splice hickory and whip it up :derisive: But he knows his stuff up the minute.

 

My son grew a mile the past two years - currently 1/2" over irons. Brought him to Kyle thinking he needed 1" over (reshaft or extension of newish irons would have been a fair cost). Kyle put him in 1" over from fitting cart watched him hit 4 balls and said nope. Took one of his irons over to Steve who changed lie angle. Huge difference. Verified on fitting software but it was painfully obvious. That's the player first fitter second. He said I hated his set up in his hands with the extra 1/2" ... 4 swings. Steve bent, undercharged IMO, son has been hitting irons great ever since.
