This just seemed like something that was a good idea until the corporate nerds got their hands on it. Have the players coming out of a tunnel with music going.

Don't announce them then play 10 seconds of music while they awkwardly stand around.

Right on. And pick a song with a long intro like "Welcome to the Jungle" and you don't even get to the riff. It works in a stadium with a roaring PA where the announcer talks over the intro, then hits the post and the players run in. It requires a sense of theater. This was somewhere between weak and inconsequential.

Agreed.....Everything about this just seems really awkward.

I think it might work better in a Ryder Cup/President Cup format where the crowd is cheering one team against another and the music could rile the crowd up.

If you need music to rile the crowd up at a Ryder Cup then it'll be the end for that competition.

Golf is a dorky sport played by dorky people. It's OK. Not everyone can be cool and go BASE jumping. Embrace the old world dorkiness like a well thumbed first edition of the hobbit and be happy in your own skin, rather than trying to gridnflball or whatever egg chasing sport it is that you play.

Even with some of the bad song selections, lack of creativity and duplicate selections from some of the field, I think this was actually a success. It added some juice to an event that is priding itself on innovating. The tournaments that stand out on the schedule to me are ones that either play at courses that are the stars of the show (Pebble, Riviera, Torrey, etc), have great fields (Majors, TPC, WGCs) or are doing unique things to try and stand out (Zurich is the only one on that list atm). If you're a regular "run of the mill" event that is generally looked over, why not try something new even if it doesn't work? Honestly, the PGA Tour needs MORE of that, and can learn something from it's European Tour counterparts. Every time I look at the Euro Tour they're always doing something different (Super 6 Event, Shot Clocks, Hero Challenge, etc). It definitely needs some tweaking, but this was a good launching off point. I'd probably give it a B- overall.

From the clips I saw, Kisner and Hoffman did it right with the music going as they hit their opening tee shot. And if the clip is only 20-30 seconds, it will automatically expose those players who take longer than that to hit their tee shot, lol. Maybe it does need to be more like baseball where the players are in the tunnel (like an "on deck" circle) they get announced, music plays, they walk out and hit their shots. I guess that's probably more like wrestling than anything now that I think about it. It is a little bit awkward having everyone just stand around on the tee waiting for it.

George Michael is awesome...

Bowie and Seal were watching this and said he was the best...and Brian may says “that was beautiful” as he starts his solo...

George does a fine job though ya gotta admit Bro, there was only one Freddie.....

My favorite rendition...

Plus, he looks better in white pants than any tour boy I’ve seen??

Come to think of it, this could be Patrick’s walk-out song??

Cheers?

First, I didn’t mean to marginalize George Michael because I liked some of his music and he had a superb voice, and was a serious talent, his personal idiosyncrasies aside.

Regarding Prince, that’s a great video and I’ve seen it before however probably my favorite Prince vid is the vid when he appeared with Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Steve Winwood for a George Harrison memorial concert and George’s son, Dhani, Played with them. He is the dark haired kid behind Petty in the beginning of the video.

What happened was Lynne and Petty, who was very close to Prince, had asked him to Play with them for Harrison’s Epic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and apparently George’s wife was unaware of Prince’s prowess on a guitar and thought that Dhani should be up front and do the solo that Harrison used to do and Steve Winwood and Petty informed her that on his worst day, Prince could outplay anyone on that stage, and you know those are three seriously formidable guitarists, lolol.

So as is evident, Prince went into overdrive on the solo, and I loved when he finished and tossed his guitar into the crowd and exited stage right, not taking a bow with the other Gents who all bowed to Olivia Harrison, George’s widow.

I loved it, lolol.

You disrespect the Man??

Hahahha, here’s a big eff you??

Prince was one Bad Boy?

I haven’t figured out who could walk out to this, lolol.

Apologies for the derail??

Cheers?
