I hate the people who use tour speak. Played with a guy who yelled "Be the number!" when his wedge was in the air. Missed the green short by 5 yards. My next shot was a bladed 70 yard shot and I couldn't resist yelling "Be the number!"

Guess it wasn't the right number. Talking to the ball while it's in the air is one of the funnest aspects of golf. Not that it listens.

I am even pretty OK with one hole that may cause 8 F bombs and a club toss. But I dang don't want to see that crap all day. It loses it's entertainment value when the F bomb is used on 16 holes, he just can't believe he doubled 17 (because he had only doubled all the even hole up to that point I guess), he has not made a putt all day, his ball was smoked off his driver but just caught that top limb (and if it wouldn't have it had 7 more trees to hit on that line), and then I get to hear about how well he has been playing so this is just an off day! In fact I should have seen his birdie on 17 six years ago when he lipped out after hitting the tree.

 

It is OK to be miffed for even all 18 holes. I just don't need it narrated. It does not bother my play, but it bores me. It is like getting home from a long work day and walking in and immediately hit with "did you see what Bruce Jenner wore on Ellen today"? The difference is when I am on the golf course and someone goes on and on I can't say that I have got to go to the bathroom because my stomach is cramping or that I have to go mow before we lose the German Shepherd in the yard!

I tend to throw out the f bomb along with other creative vocabulary on the course, but only if playing with friends who don't mind. If playing with randoms, then no unless they let it rip first.

We were too poor to go to camp much less to send our boots, and to a language camp, wow, rich people!

So important to know your audience and the context in which words are being used. There are those who can code switch and those who struggle to. I'd rather be in the former group.

In the military the lack of intelligence in others and the level of stupidity of the things you need to do, correlate very heavily with the number of swear words soldiers spit out. I might say one swear word a round on the course but it wasn't a problem to generate sentences with nothing but swear words in them in the military, due to the circumstances and other people.

I'm in a similar situation, working as an electrician for 35 years the language is an everyday common occurrence. Unfortunately, after a while it seems to be a bit contagious. Sometimes I embarrass myself with the language I use, but don't use it around people where it would be inappropriate, such as women children and those that don't care to hear it. I will respect other people's desires not to hear it, and will refrain from using it then.

Thank you. I'm not saying I don't unconsciously let one fly occasionally and always feel a bit bad afterword when with mixed company. I try real hard not to and have trained myself to substitute less offending words that get the point across. When I started this thread it was after playing with someone who couldn't finish a sentence without multiple bombers. Sorry, defend all you want. That is just a bore.
