Okay guys, I need a little help. We're starting a company golf tournament this year and with me being the verified golf nut on staff, I've been voluntold that I was to organize it. All is going well and I think I'm set, but I've just been told that they'd like to add a charity element to it. That's awesome, but I'm extremely short on volunteers to man the holes (I may have 4 or so) and I need ideas on how to best raise money without having to put people all over the course to run games.

 

So lay it on me WRX - how can I keep it fun and maximize the amount of money we can raise? All ideas welcome.

See if the charitable organization has a few extra spare hands... typically they will help if they know they are getting exposure and donations. They can always set up a charity raffle at the sign up (like mentioned above) and set up a charity side game at a hole or two (closest to the line, closest to the logo, etc etc)

$5 per golfer on one of the par 5s.

Allows them to hit from the red tees. If there are also women playing, they get to move to beginning of fairway.

Simple, and from my experience, almost everyone will go for it.

That one gets nipped in the bud right away because of how much of the money doesn't go to the charity. Nobody is a fan it seems.

Last tournament I played in, each player donated $20 and got to play the longest par 5 from the 200 yard mark. Or, you can choose whatever yard mark for them. Sell mulligans 2 for $5

I was going to suggest a putting contest for a flat screen TV. 20 bucks for 3 balls. get 100 people in, award an 800 dollar TV from Costco. Make it a 75 footer on the practice green. If more than one person make it .. putt off after the round

 

Same with closest to the pin. $20 to win a car. Closest to wins a nice $400 putter, keep the rest. Get an insurance company to cover HIO insurance

I was a company scramble tourney at Arrowhead last year - one of the par 5s they had a 'ball cannon' that you could pay 5$/shot and have it be your drive. The launcher would rocket out the ball like a potato cannon about 350yds or so and you got to play that ball.

Betting holes on one or more par threes. Many people (if they know its for charity) will tell them to keep the money even if they win.
