I play my driver at 44.5". Shaft is tipped an inch, loft cranked down to 8 degrees. Hit it with plenty of launch.

For those playing driver shorter are you still playing 3 wood at stock length? TM is at 43.25" for example on the M1 3 wood.

My driver is 44.50 and 3wd is 43. Any longer on the 3wd shaft it's too close to driver distance. I tested 43" and 44" driver shafts though and lost minor distance; 44.50, however, no distance lose. :beach:

I'm 6'4" and play a 43" shaft. I'm not one of these tall guys that plays a 33" putter either, just found that 43" works best for me. Timing is much better, no loss or gain in distance. Be sure to think about swing weight when cutting down a shaft. I like my driver to be D0, and (depending on shaft) it is easy to get somewhere around C8 cutting a stock shaft down that short.

I picked up an Epic SZ from Callaway CPO during the 40% off sale with the shaft already at -1inch. It showed up basically brand new. I’m assuming the only reason it was marked as brand new was due to the shaft trim.

Took to the range last night and my consistent toe miss has been traded for dead center hits. I feel like I can swing it faster too. No further testing needed.

The Cobra LTD has been kicked from the bag!

I'd been a 44.5" driver player for as long as I can remember. Starting in 2010 I played the G15 and then 913D3 at 44.5" and loved both of those drivers. I got fitted for a G30 in 2015 and fitter wanted me to try 45.5". Moved into a Epic SZ last year and played that at 45.5" as well. But looking back, I'm not sure I ever hit the 45.5" drivers as well as I did the 44.5" drivers. My friend, who I played probably 70% of my golf with finally called it to my attention a few weeks ago when we had a chance to hit on a monitor for a few hours together and experiment with some old drivers he had laying around at 44.5". I'm back to experimenting with my SZ at 44.75". I've definitely found the middle of the face more since moving to the smaller head. Its not a cure all, but the hits are definitely more centered. That said, the SZ feels too light for me right now. Going to try adding some head weight. There is a feel that I remembered when I picked up those 44.5" drivers my friend had that I have been missing. Going to be chasing a very specific feel that I can only describe as 'balanced', that I have been missing with the SZ and G30 when playing at 45.5".

I just added an 11g weight to replace the 4g weight in the SZ. After moving to the 44.5" shaft the weight addition brought the club head weight to 205g with a swing weight at D3. It feels much more balanced now as before it was significantly lighter than my gamer (LTD @D6).

Agree - ordered a few new weights to try. Should be able to get the SW back up. I'm not chasing a specific SW as much as something that 'feels' good. But being a tinkerer, I couldn't help but order a few new to me things to try.

Also, was at the range last night with impact tape and without a doubt, I am hitting the center more often. My driving is still a work in progress as is to be expected from a 14HC, but I have no doubt this is going to help.

I've been 44.5" for as long as i can remember. Like 10-12 years easily. I rejected the move to longer drivers full-on !

I already prefer a lightweight driver shaft; and play a light grip. So swing-weight wise i don't struggle too much but have added weight sometimes if its dropped too much. Even upto D0 i'm ok. Get into the 'C's' and it's too light for me.....

Like many here (?) i can't strike a 45+ inch consistently enough. I'm likely longer overall........round-in and round-out......with the shorter driver due to more solid strikes more often.

I switch between 44.5 AD-DI and 45.5 Devotion in a 917D2. I gain 7~10 yards with the Devotion but it's less straight and bad misses are worse.

Was fit into a shorter driver several years ago. It's probably time to get that double checked.
