Receptacle Blocked

n_rones

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever heard of a delivery error due to the receptacle being blocked? I was checking the tracking yesterday on a set of irons i sold because i knew they were set to deliver yesterday. The note on the tracking says we attempted to deliver your item at 6:45 PM. Delivery of the item could not be completed because the mail receptacle was blocked. I reached out to the guy and he said its weird they usually just leave the stuff on his porch. I cant think of a reason his porch would have been blocked off enough the mailman couldn't have left the package there.

Means the mailbox was blocked. Someone probably parked in front of it. And to prove a point the mail person would not deliver anything. Will get delivered today I’m sure.

USPS employees are special kinds of people sometimes. It could have been what the above poster described, or a stick may have been on the sidewalk in their way. I once got a notice in my mailbox because someone's dog had taken a dump on the sidewalk in front of my house and the mailman would not deliver until it was removed. Yes, he had to step over the pile to deliver the notice that he would no longer step over the pile to deliver anything else. We averted the situation when I got home and grabbed a plastic bag to remove the obstruction.

Got another of the same notifications when my wife and I were on vacation, and I'd filled out a mail hold until I returned... but the mailman just kept delivering until the box was too full to even close and packages were piled on the stoop, then left a notice that we needed to clean out our box before he'd deliver again. When I got home a week later and called the post office livid that I had packages and mail sitting on the front stoop in the elements for anyone to steal when I had filled out a mail hold, the girl just laughed and said, "oh, he never pays attention to those."

Or in 100% of the times this has happened to me, the package didn't get loaded correctly onto the delivery truck, got loaded late or not at all, or the mail carrier just didn't give 2 craps/was lazy, and in all cases, marked the package as it being the recipient's fault to why it didn't deliver so they wouldn't get dinged with it being missed or late.

With the old scanners packages that are scanned at 6:45 or later used to be scanned as attempted even though they never leave the office. With the new scanners you have to scan the 3849 or pink slip showing that you left a notice of it is attempted. Hence the reason for scanning it box blocked, no notice needs to be scanned and they scan all the mistakes all at once. I still dont know how they are allowed to scan 20+ parcels box blocked all at the same time. I hate walking in the next morning and seeing parcels at my case scanned as box blocked at 6 having left work at 3:30.

I work in the mailing business, and from time to time we have to get our machines certified by processing "USPS Test Decks" of mail that they send out to us. They are large heavy boxes.

I got a notice that items couldn't be delivered as they were too heavy for the small older mail delivery lady to handle and I'd need to go pick them up. When I called to find out how much they were willing to reimburse me for gas/mileage/time in order to pick up the items that they were supposed to deliver, they of course said they couldn't do that. I informed them that when the National USPS Support Center called wondering why I hadn't tested my equipment I'd inform them that the Test Decks were still sitting at local USPS not able to be delivered. Next day a different mail carrier and all 4 boxes delivered.

Really, you're gonna go there? Maybe you missed the part where I said these packages were shipped by the USPS National Customer Support Center, Memphis TN? They are shipped every year by Express Mail, Signature Required. If the USPS National Customer Support Center doesn't know USPS shipping regulations and weight limitations perhaps you should start an inter-company memorandum to enlighten them.

And they were delivered (as they should've been originally), once I let the local office know that I wouldn't be picking them up and they could answer to NCSC. Seems it just took a little "nudge" to get them off their lazy union butts to do their job.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. While the Postal Service has no official motto, the popular belief that it does is a tribute to America's postal workers. (As long as they don't have to deliver something that inconveniences them?)

Just sold an item on eBay and tracking states “address incorrect, incomplete”, etc. I emailed the buyer and he said his mother works at the local post office and takes the packages out of the system, instead of having them delivered. Meanwhile, if they chose, they could file a claim based off of the item not being delivered/lost. What is going on with some of the USPS workers?!?

Just like every job out there...there’s gonna be good ones and bad ones. Shame that we only hear about the scummy ones.

Is she not able to mark the packages “delivered” that she “takes out of the system”? It may be nothing, but that sounds like it has the potential to be shady. Like you said, that’s the perfect situation for someone of flexible morals to receive items and then file with eBay for a refund.
