A group of us are headed to the PGA Championship at Bellereive in August and our club was able to get us on at Fox Run GC. I searched the site, but wasn't able to find much info on it. Who here's played it, thoughts? Where's it rank among the STL area courses? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

I played it once about 2 years ago when I was looking at clubs to join. It is a very solid course and should be in really good shape. As far as rankings in the STL area, it would definitely be in the upper echelon of the best courses. It just doesn't get as much acclaim as some of the older, more well known clubs in the city as it's out in the middle of nowhere so it's more under the radar. I think your group should enjoy it.

It has been 10 yrs since I've played there, but it is a quality golf course. It usually hosts some of the amateur events around town such as Mid-Am qualifying, etc. FWIW, it has a good pedigree. Held a Ben Hogan/web.com event back in the day where US Open Champ Michael Campbell won. Also held an LPGA event that Annika Sorenstam won.

Play there every time I go home from Chicago, so about 5/6 times a year. Played there last weekend. I love it. I would put it top 5 in St. Louis. I would say Stl CC, Old Warson, and Boone Valley are def better, but then for me, you have Bellerive, Tavern Creek (St Albans) and Fox Run in whichever order. Fox stretches out to like 8100 (I believe they only set the tees tipped for 1 tournament a year, but I am not positive about that)

Last weekend Fox was in great shape. Very firm, everything ran out quite a bit. Greens will be quick and in great shape. Fox never has really more than 50 rounds per day unless there is a tournament. If it were in Ladue/West County and not Eureka it would probably be talked about more. It is a beautiful property, and solid practice area as well. You'll enjoy it!

You just sold me on joining there. I take 44 west home every night and in the summer hit up Pevely/Aberdeen/Crescent Farms and just pay per day and I'm tired of only getting 9 holes in when I've been out for 2.5 hours. This is perfect. From what I was told it is no initiation fee and cost per month is very reasonable. I was a member at the Legends for all of 4 months and had the same issue I did at the courses off Lewis Rd.

I like playing Fox Run GC whenever I can. Personally, I would rank it as one of top 5 STL courses. It can play very long. I think black tees are 7300 yards as par 71. They do have Tees A & B. 8150 and 7900 yards long par 71 but I heard it is rarely used.

Nice! I think you will really enjoy Fox Run. I love Aberdeen (not a fan of Crescent or Pevely), but Fox Run is next level. Bent grass everything if I remember correctly. I really considered joining Fox Run but it was just a little bit too far out of the way for me. If we end up moving out that way I would definitely join. Another benefit is that I believe they have a reciprocal agreement with Dalhousie, which would give you access to another top course in the state.

Super sold if it gets you at Dalhousie as I travel down that way every other week for work.

It is all bent which is nice in the winter. Fox Run and Gateway are the only bent grass facilities in the area.

I live on Tavern Creek @ St. Albans, but pricing is too much to justify being close to home. I don't do the country club thing so a golf only club where i don't have to spend $200 a month on F&B helps.
