Evening all. I’m fortunate enough to be a member at Carnoustie. Went out and played a few holes tonight and took a few snaps so thought I would share with you all how the course is looking. Will add more over the next month or so. Enjoy!

interesting how much the golf courses here have improved in the last two weeks.

 

I am at Royal Aberdeen and wow the course is getting much better, especially the greens.

The grandstands have been up for a few weeks already in preparation. Unless you've been you cannot understand just how difficult some of the greens are. Great course.

Definitely OB in tournament. Course is so difficult but fair. Go for hero shot and don’t pull off...you will pay. Play smart and you can score. Just tremendous course. Amazing those old courses hold up

Thanks. Yea I couldn't remember if it played OB or not left of the green there on 18 because I know fans and bleachers are there, too.

I played there a couple times in 1978, and again in 1984. The first time that I played was after a big rain storm, and the Barry Burn overflowed its banks. There was a large pond in front of the green on 18.

 

Wonderful course with lots of history.

Tonight’s picture is looking back down the 14th/4th greens and one down 16. Another cracking night for it. I really hope we get weather like this in the open itself!

To answer a few points as well. Yes there is OB left by the 18th green. And yes the grand stands do go up this early. They are 95% done I think. They just need to do the big one down the right side of the 18th green. I think the reason they put the grand stands up so early is that the tented vilage and hospitality tents are absolutely enormous

I was down today for a lesson and had a look at 18. Haven't played for a few weeks and wow, the rough has appeared! 18 only looks about 15 yards wide!

cool, 2 of toughest and fairest tests on the Open rotations this year -- Shinnecock and Carnoustie. Refreshing change stateside from the Erin Hills' fails. Wouldnt surprise me if the Shinnecock designers took some inspiration from Carnoustie -- imo, Shinnecock is like Carnoustie w/ hills

I played it 10 years ago. The wind was howling and a misty rain was blowing sideways in 40 degree f temp. Hardest course I've ever played and that includes Shinnecock and Olympic. I made a comment to my Scottish caddie: "Wow I can't believe how many people are out here playing today"...to which he replied "a nice day like this will bring 'em out every time..........." :taunt:

Had the pleasure of playing Carnoustie in April during the Lindsay Shield Ralphy. Course was in superb shape and with the warm and dry weather we have been experiencing on the East Coast of Scotland this past month the course must be bone hard and fast like the courses in St. Andrews. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn very wet between now and The Open as I would love to see the course play fast for the worlds best when they turn up.

I played it 2 days after Sergio blew his 6 foot putt to win the Open.

 

What shocked me the most about the course was how you could pummel your drive right down the middle and end up in a bunker.

 

Greens were relatively benign so long as you could land on one.
