Ping I210 irons & Glide forged wedge

GolfWRX

Recommended Posts

I put my glide forged 56 and 60 in play this weekend and all I can say is wow.. softest wedges I’ve ever hit and the control / spin is top notch. Ping really hit it out of the park with these. The 56 and 60 are so much cleaner and versatile thru turf and sand then the glide 2.0s I replaced them with. The glide2.0 was too chunky and I’d have problems skulling from bunkers and tight lies, but the g forged solved those problems the only downside is wrx department will not custom grind these and theyres no bounce options

My Glide Forged are boxed up and shipping Monday. Should have them Wednesday. Pics as soon as they're unboxed.

Ugh. They shipped today, won’t be here until Thursday. I’m leaving for a wedding Wednesday afternoon and won’t be back until next Tuesday... this is a special torture...

I got to get out this morning and play 18. I scored a 74 but and the irons were just had a slight fade and seemed to balloon on every shot. It's a little cooler this morning, but I seemed about 1.5-2 clubs shorter then my epons. Feel was really good.

I even ordered them in power spec lofts with dg 105 stiff. Wish I would have done dg120 or modus 105.

Also hit my i500 modus this morning. They were longer and straighter. But I missed a 9 iron to a 132 par 3 pin and came up way short. I did thin it pretty bad.

If I had to choose between the i500 and i210 I currently have it would be i500.

Probably has been asked and answered, and also probably not the right thread... but I am interested in either the i210 or the i500. I don't need distance, but could use forgiveness. I don't want the G4/700s. Hell, I really don't need clubs but am interested in making an all-Ping bag. Thoughts?

I need spin help , so I found the i210 more forgiving in my time hitting both.

To me...the I210's were more forgiving. Point and shoot. I know several people have mentioned that the 500's should be easier to hit, but that wasn't the case for me. In addition, the gapping on the i210's should be more consistent. I'm more concerned with my 7 iron going 155 yds as frequently as possible. I'm not concerned with hitting my 7 iron 170 yds every 3rd swing.

Got out today with my i210s. Dispersion was great and can easily work the ball. 5-10 yards shorter than my previous sticks but it had rained. Air was a little thick. Much higher ball flight. I went with LZ 5.5s which is a little lighter and weaker than what I’ve been playing. Overall I’m pretty pleased so far. The one word that comes to mind to describe what I saw today is consistency. I’m impressed especially with 7-U

Just received my i210’s today. Fitted into DG S300’s. Went out to the range at Carl’s with a buddy of mine (who actually ended up being my fitter)

I’m sold, these are lights out and longer than I initially expected, gapping and dispersion is absolutely spot on and the feel is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Ping deserves the medal for company of the year with their latest releases, they are absolutely owning the market.

Will post pics soon!

is the feel as "buttery" as the rumors are?

I don’t think I would describe them as buttery, but more as solid. They just feel really solid off the face.

Not a buttery feel by any means, just a really good feel. It’s hard to describe, just a very solid feel and sound with great feedback. Almost like a dampened kind of feel , like the ball sticks to the club longer than normal.

Tried the Glide Forged wedges tonight. They set up beautifully, they feel incredible, they are easy to open, and the control is excellent. I didn't want to love them, but I do. I see a couple in my future.

Any updates on on how theses are wearing compared to 200’s?? I know it’s very early yet but the 200’s seemed to show wear quickly.

Saw them in person yesterday and I’m one of the few that think the i200 look better. The hydro pearl 2.0 finish kinda looks cheap to me. But I am also one of the few who haven’t had issues with the original finish on mine.

Ok, so I got my i210s in yesterday and naturally had to go out and hit them. Initial thoughts were not good. I thought the feel was off and on course testing showed that the 8,9,W were about half a club short. When I did hit the green, they stopped on a dime so I concluded that they must produce more spin. The long irons were fantastic. Launched a bit higher than the i200 and were very easy to hit.

Went out early this morning to hit them again. Feel was back. I guess yesterday was a bad swing day or something. Took them back on the course and tested the short irons. Again, they were a little short of my normal distances but the feel and dispersion were excellent. Drove to Edwin Watts where I bought the clubs and had them look at the loft and lie. Turns out that the lofts were 1* weak. Adjusted them back to where they should be and hopefully that will get my distance gapping back in line.

I will post my findings after this weekend.

Pros so far:

Dispersion is really good. Really good

The finish looks better and is holding up better than the i200

Consistency

Long irons are easy to hit

My order was placed on 7/18 and I got my shipping notification today.

Does this timeframe fall in line with what others are seeing? I am wondering if the digital loft service slowed them down.
