Titleist's new TS 2 & TS 3 driver - shot @ 2018 US Open

For those “holding out for a 917”.... don’t do it. The 917 fairways were as good as Titleist has ever made and I thought my 917 F2 16.5° would remain in the bag after the TS launch. Boy was I wrong....

Both the driver and fairway are unbelievable.

Are the fairways really that much better? What was the difference for taking the 917 out for the TS3 fairway?

I didn’t hit the TS fairway great during the fitting as compared to my F2... today was my first round with the TS3 fairway and absolutely smoked it dead straight. Might not be that much faster/longer but it was VERY consistent.

I have my fitting scheduled for early October with a really great fitter here in Toronto that fits for multiple brands. I can't wait to try these out. I think I hit my 917D3 pretty well, but being a 95 - 98MPH guy, I'll take any increase in ball speed that I can get :-)

I am about 92 MPH and the Smoke 6.0 with the TS2 was by far the best performer for me from my fitting yesterday, beat my 917D2 by 8 - 10 yards. Couldn't find a FW to beat my 917F2 15 set at 16.5, pre ordering now!

Yeah I'm pretty sure the fairway wood is going to change - I've got a 910Fd 13.5*. I only use it off the tee, but I'm looking for something more versatile to try and hit some Par 5's in 2 or long par 4s with a poorly hit tee shot. There is no chance I hit the 910Fd off of a fairway - maybe if it's fluffed up in light rough, but definitely not from a fairway. That TS2 looks really nice for sure.

I stopped in my local Golfer's Warehouse today and was pleasantly surprised to see some demo TS2s and TS3s out. I hit both with the HZRDUS Smoke. I wanted to try the Evenflow White but only had about 10 mins so I didn't want to ask someone to get the shaft out for me. Of the 2 I liked the TS2 more. I have a positive AOA and with the Smoke was carrying 280-285 with ~2100 spin. Was very impressed and will be going to a Titleist Thursday on 9/6 to try them out with some of the other shaft options.

Hit a 8.5 TS3 w/ even flow t1100 6.5 and a 8.5 TS2 w/ HZRDUS Black smoke 6.0, and I can honestly say I’m impressed. Sound and feel was superb even with the beat up shop balls.

Swing speed is around 112mph, peaking around 115/116ish. TS3 was actually too low in spin for me with some being sub-1500 rpms. Baby fades never peaked above 2500rpm and I saw the highest ball speed I’ve ever hit with a driver (165 mph). I wasn’t going to even bother trying the TS2, but I figured I might as well, and I’m really glad I did. Spun a touch higher, but constantly carried around 285.

Longest drive was roughly 290 carry with the TS3, but the occasional duck hook would come out with it. The TS2 was only a few yards shorter, but I couldn’t believe the consistency.

I can’t wait to put the Srixon 785 next to the TS2/3 and see what comes out on top

I wasn't a huge fan of the 917 fairway. The F2 head felt "dead" to me with a really muted sound. I much preferred the 915F.

Second that. Anything off-center felt like the head was cracked.

Just hit the 9.5 TS3 on the trackman... wow, impressed with the feel and ball speeds. Baseline is 112-113 SS with 8.5 915D4 using HZRDUS T1100... ballspeed improved on average 4-5 mph and spin decreased about 400 rpm (getting dialed in at 2200ish with a 13 degree launch and +2.5 AoA)... distances increased 11 yards on average with roughly 295 carry and 318 total.

Super impressed although I was indoors and would like to get another trackman session outdoors before I commit. Granted I’m coming from a 915 and not TM or Cally or Ping but the numbers don’t lie!

My pro's fitting heads came in yesterday so I took TS2 and TS3 out for a test drive. Wow, I really like the TS3 on the course, I brought my old Whiteboard 70 stiff shaft for that head as I don't like any of the fitting cart shafts.

I did see that Titleist now offers Tensei Pro Orange shafts as a custom shaft upcharge. Not cheap though.

How did you like the D4? I game one also and suprised the new TS were even lower spinning .

Did you think the D4 was forgoing?

I didn’t think the D4 was unforgiving, although with the smaller head I could see why perhaps it could be perceived that way. Yes, I was shocked at the much lower spin rates also.

I am hoping the Titleist or the Srixon Z785 driver can impress be enough to splash the cash, I am looking forward to some testing in the near future!

Don't forget the PO is counterbalanced!!!!

Sure it might be popular on tour, but playing a CB shaft is a world of difference from the D+, White Board, Kuro Kage, Etc.

I have a question for anyone who has been through a fitting at a titleist Thursday. When the they fit you for a particular loft do they make sure the club they send you is actually at that loft? I know when you pull a club off the shelf at a retail store and it says 9.5 or 10.5 there is some plus or minus variance there. You're not always actually getting that loft.

Did my fitting today.

TS2 - 10.5 w HZRDUS Smoke 6.0 (D2 setting w/ weight set to fade)

1) Muted sound for both driver and fairway

2) Felt very similar to my old D2

3) My swing speed is slow, averaging between 94-97 mph

4) Was getting 230-235 carry / rolling out to 247-252

TS3 - 10.5 w HZRDUS Smoke 6.0 (D2 setting w weight set to fade)

1) Louder of the two. Loved the sound and feel

2) 460cc head also

3) Getting 241-247 carry / rolling out to about 250-260.

I loved the TS3 and had a lot of fun doing the fitting today. I ordered the TS3 with the Smoke and also got a side order IZ-6 shaft.
