Do you trust your fitting?

I've done two completely different fittings for TS drivers at two different places for two different fitters. Both outside and both with Trackman. I've done the tests incognito and only answered all the questions from the fitter.

Both fitters said I was quite easy to fit because it was quite obvious what I should have?!

I play to hcp 4, have a smooth swing of 105Mph in average.

First fitter placed me in TS2 8.5 with Evenflow White 6.5, 44.5" B1 setting.

Second fitter placed me in TS3 10.5 with Smoke 6.0, fade weight, 45" and A1 setting.

Are you confused? Imagine what I feel! :-D

That's a bit scary.

I have had more bad experiences than good when it comes to fitting.

You think TS2 and TS3 is just a new name for D2 and D3?

Think again :-)

I took this picture in fitting today, I think it speaks for itself.

This is 917 D2 vs TS2. Bulge and roll deluxe. I think Titleist did the right thing with "resetting" their driver market.

it basically saying TM twist face is all marketing.

not necessarily. it does not mean that twist face is wrong. Just the Titleist came up with a different way.

Ive been playing a 913 d2 since it came out. Ive demoed the 915 and 917 and they perfomed about the same as the 913.

Last night i demoed the Ts2 along side my 913. For me they both performed about the same. I liked the look and feel of the Ts2 but just didnt see enough of a gain in performance to switch. When i put a good swing on it i got a good result. Mediocre swing got mediocre results. Funny how that happens.

Years ago i would have bought it sight unseen. I guess for now im comfortable with what i have and if its not broken why change it. That being said im going to a Ping fitting next week and see if I like any of their new clubs better than mine.

The MAX is really good. BUT.... I just passed mine on in favor of a 913 D3. Wasn't as forgiving, but wasn't terribly worse either. I was actually getting more distance out of the 913 by a couple yards on the course and the look and sound were better for me. That said, I just put my TS3 in the bag, EF white, and one range trip and I am hooked.... need to see what it does on the course but I suspect I will not ever be looking back at the MAX, and I really liked that driver for the most part. The 913 is no slouch though.... if it works, keep playing it!

The Ping would have to be quite an improvement for me to switch. I really like my 913. For me the look, sound, feel and performance is just perfect. The TS2 was also a good driver its just didn't do anything considerably better than the 913. If I didn't already have it I could easily get the TS2 and be more than happy. For my money Titleist makes the best drivers. I think they check all the boxes.

Went into Roger Dunn in Seal Beach today to test out the TS2 and TS3 against my 917. Warmed up a bit with my current set up (917D2 at 9.5 with an AD IZ 7X), and was hitting it pretty average, not as long as normal, but to be expected cause it was my first couple swings...

Switched the head to the TS3.... wow. Same swing speed at 108 but noticeably hotter off the face, sound is good, and I picked up 10 extra yards of carry and rolled out another 5-7 yards further. Switched over to the TS2 with my shaft, and similar distance numbers, however slightly shorter cause this club hand a tendency to hook a little for me. The CG seemed better for my swing in the TS3, and I liked that I could have more adjustment room in the TS3 when I need it.

Switched back to the 917D2 head just to bring it back full circle and was hitting good shots again, similar to the TS2 in distance, so about a 5-7 yard increase in carry and full distance, but still not as good as the TS3 in my opinion

All in all, without being a loser and telling you guys how far I did/didn't hit the ball, I will say that I think the new drivers are noticeably better. Forgiveness seemed just as good as my 917, but the "Titleist Speed" increase was noticeable. It left me with the thought that getting a new driver would be worth it this time, BUT spending $500 to upgrade a club that's already pretty solid for me is going to be where I'll take my time on the decision.

Just my 2 cents haha sorry for the essay

Not really, could as simple as different range balls at two separate facilities. How about atmospheric conditions on those days? Downwind or headwind? As an amateur your swing is going to vary from day to day, most people overestimate their ability to produce consistent launch conditions such as attack angle, club path , face angle and even club speed on a daily basis

Did a quick demo of the TS2/Tensei Blue stiff and TS3/Hzrdous Stiff - one thing that stood out to me is how straight the leading edge is at address, it's like they sandpapered it to make it straight, no bulge at all. The TS3 was too low spinning for me. TS2 was better but still didn't quite have that solid feel the 910 D2 has for me. Both clubs wanted to go left on me for some reason. Nice but not blown away, want to demo the TS2 with Kuro Kage before ruling it out. Just my own 2 cents.

Got the chance to hit the TS3 again today. Still didn't manage to get it on a launch monitor to check the numbers but wanted to test it out on the course. Really impressed with the forgiveness of the TS3. Having put some pretty ropey swings on it, it still really seemed to want to stay relatively straight. Ball flight is good as well.

My miss with my 917D2 is the heel. With the TS3 though, it seemed like it was the toe. Would that be a product of the extra half inch on the shaft?

Has anyone asked a Titleist rep about changing the weights for shorter playing lengths? Their site says add 2g for every 1/2” but I thought it was 3g for each 1/2” to maintain SW.

To maintain SW exactly it is actually closer to 5 grams per half inch shortened on a driver. 1.8 gram per point.

It’s 2 grams per point on short irons and wedges. The amount needed actually varies with the length of the club. Longer clubs have their heads farther from the SW scale fulcrum and need less weight to change the measurement.

That 2 gram advice will not possibly keep it close to original SW. Its dead wrong.

All the more reason to get thoroughly fit by a reputable fitter...

FYI the CG swingweight tubes from the 917 will fit in the new TS drivers, likewise with the fairways as well. The new design of the TS SW tube obviously has its advantages by having both the neutral and draw/fade in the same unit.

Fitting on range balls? Are you kidding ;-)

Of course the fitting was on my ball of choice - AVX. Both fittings hade a very weak breeze of tailwind.

I’m an amateur including a swing that might have minor differences every day, but at hcp 4 I think I’m quite close to have some kind of baseline.

I would think the opposite, longer shaft would push the club further away making your miss to the heel side.

So I TRIED to demo the TS3 with the evenflow 6.5 yesterday at my golf galaxy.

The Sales person couldn’t be bothered to set up the actual good monitor in the dedicated Titleist fitting room.

He gave me the club and told me to go hit on the cheapo monitors that they use for basic used club demos.

Three swings. The monitor tells me Its going about 30 degrees hard right at 97-98 mph and carrying it 210-220!?!? ROTFLMOA!!

Go back to the sales person in another part of the store, who couldn’t be bothered to even watch me swing it, and told him what happened. I also told him I just got done playing 18 holes twenty minutes ago and I was hitting my driver 260-270 through the air and essentially straight. Shot 76 with two blow up double bogey holes. I told him I’ve been playing 35 years and I swing a driver 108-110 mph like clockwork. I suggest the machine is seriously jacked and perhaps I should use a different t one.

As expected, He of course couldnt care less and said the monitors are correct, maybe I’m just not swinging it very well and it doesnt suit me.

LOL! Once again I am clearly reminded why I hate that Golf galaxy so much and rarely ever go in it.... So bad. So very bad.

Tried the TS3 yesterday vs my 9* Epic. TS3 was 8.5* set at C1 so less than 8* I'm told. Hzrdus Smoke 6.0. The launch monitor was from the stone age so I don't trust the numbers. But the readout said I was averaging 1900 spin with the Epic vs 1500 for the TS3; launch angle the same at 16*. Avg carry was 6 yards longer with the TS3 and total distance gained 13 yards. Dispersion was noticeably tighter with the TS3 if the sim. is to be believed. I've been hitting the Epic great so I am intrigued by the TS3, it might be better for me. I will have to try it on a different monitor though.

My fitting done by a titleist fitter was done with range balls for the TS driver. Once he got me where I needed to be I then switched to ProV1s and he dialed me in the rest of the way.

Wasn’t Greensboro, NC was it? As a scratch golfer I’ve got a pretty solid swing and know my numbers. Always about 5-10mph down. What a joke.

Just hit the demos at PGA SS and got the best numbers with the TS2 and Hzrdus Smoke. Did anyone else notice a big difference in sound between the TS2 and TS3? Either way i was extremely impressed with these new drivers. Never been a Titleist guy to this point.

Same boat. Still can’t believe the TS2/Smoke combo won out. Didn’t really notice a difference in sound between the heads when they had the same shaft. Seemed different shaft to shaft, though - not in a bad way, but noticeable. EF White was denser imo. HZRDUS Black was really muted, especially with the TS3.
